Former New York Mayor and Attorney General Rudy Giuliani is emerging as a favorite for the position of US Secretary of State:

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani emerged as the favorite to serve as secretary of state in Donald Trump's incoming administration, a senior Trump official said as the president-elect narrowed down his Cabinet picks.

The official said there was no real competition for the job and that it was Giuliani's if he wanted it. The official was not authorized to speak on the record and requested anonymity.

Giuliani, a top Trump adviser, said Monday night at a Washington event sponsored by the Wall Street Journal that he "won't be attorney general" in Trump's administration - a job for which the former federal prosecutor had been seen as a top contender even before Trump's election.

Hmm, it's an unexpected choice for me - though I'd still rank him ahead of John Bolton, who was more associated with Dubya's foreign agenda.

Giuliani has long had a strong focus on terrorism - he was Mayor of New York during 9/11 - and so that could be a sign that fighting terrorists will be a much higher priority for the new Trump govt than in needlessly re-fighting ColdWar crap.

Which other candidates would be good for Secretary of State?

Sarah Palin is the obvious choice for the Trump's Secretary of State. She'll have translators all over the world tearing their hair out trying to figure out WTF she's talking about.
