Women consider long-term birth control now that Trump victory looms over reproductiv

Re: Women consider long-term birth control now that Trump victory looms over reproduc

An executive order can't change a law, so that's useless.

You are misreading the executive order. It reads the same as the Hyde amendment.
The only funds used for abortions are for therapeutic abortions not elective abortions.

The government can only use federal funds in cases of rape , incest , or when the women's life is at risk from the pregnancy.

She almost died giving birth to their two children. We were all in agreement that this needed to happen.

In fact, it saved the marriage.

Well, then I'm glad it worked out for them.

Listen to this hysteria. As though anyone is stopping anyone from buying birth control.

Considering one of Trumps plans is to allow states to limit access to birth control, yes that is a possibility.

That's bull****, and you know it. No one can be limited to access to birth control. You people aren't even mad about birth control, you're mad about who pays for it. Be honest, it's about the money.

My birth control is free.

I care about women not having access to birth control and Trump has said he wants to place that decision making ability in the hands of the states, along with abortion. So yes I have an issue with those things being left up to the states rather than the actual individuals.

He's right, though; nothing yet revealed in Trump's plan blocks any access to birth control, or concerns "decision-making"; only who pays for it.

Good, so get women involved in your state legislature.

I'm pretty sure he talked about putting birth control access in the hands of the state, at least once, if not this latest interview he did. It was a comment made in conjunction with talking about putting abortion in the hands of the state.

My form of birth control does not work for most people and relies much more on men having control than the women. So blame the men.

Not that I can find. Everything I can find having to do with Trump and birth control has to do with coverage -- payment.

I know I read it this morning somewhere.

However, even if it just came down to the Justices, what prevents a state from making birth control for contraceptive purposes illegal? There is a case on this but then if those pro-life Justices also feel that such things should be up to the states too, what prevents them from overturning that decision with RvW?

This is sort of like his words about how same sex marriage is a "done deal" because the SCOTUS decided it already. He doesn't seem to understand the potential implications of his appointments to the SCOTUS at all. He thinks that they stop with those things he does support but that isn't necessarily the case. It depends on what they support or don't. I can only hope that Kennedy and Ginsberg hold out and up for 4 more years and it won't matter.
