Women consider long-term birth control now that Trump victory looms over reproductiv

Re: Women consider long-term birth control now that Trump victory looms over reproduc

How about married women like my daughter who wish to space her children but should not use be pills for medical reasons?

Condoms are free.

Re: Women consider long-term birth control now that Trump victory looms over reproduc

Isn't keeping the number of unwanted pregnancies low in all of our best interests?

Stop forcing me to pay for other peoples's bad decisions is in our best interest.

Re: Women consider long-term birth control now that Trump victory looms over reproduc

That is disingenuous reading of the contrary points. To simplify what those of us against certain parts of the ACA are saying, there is an entitlement mentality embedded in programs that "give" people things, no matter how the costs of those things are actually spread out.

Birth control enjoys a unique position right now as a copay-free treatment, which is doubly weird when considering for the vast majority of women, birth control is an elective thing, which is to say it is not medically necessary like, say, insulin. Again, that's for most women - some do need it as a treatment for active symptoms of problems.

But do we think Obama hates diabetics because there is a copay for insulin? No, probably not. So why the special prominence of place for a specific women's issue?

Emotionalism.

You can buy her pills, don't be so cheap.

Re: Women consider long-term birth control now that Trump victory looms over reproduc

Women who are thinking about long term birth control should see their doctor while insurance will still cover it with no co- pay. If the ACA is dismantled the out of pocket up front cost is about $800- $1,000.

should women also be required to inform us when it is our turn to grab them?

Re: Women consider long-term birth control now that Trump victory looms over reproduc

They don't care. You're trying to get a point across to people who don't really think anyone else exists except themselves and the people they know. We live in a fact free world now, or at best, a world where facts can be chosen or disregarded depending on what fits best.

Like the little bully who picks on other kids until the day comes when another kid punches him back, these people don't really believe bad things happen to other people until it happens to them. Would they just tell their own daughter or their own wife to just get their ovaries removed, or just keep having kids one after the other?

Of course not. They'd do exactly what you/your daughter did and they'd flip out at anyone who told them different. But because it's not them, it's not real.

I wish you the best. :)

Listen to this hysteria. As though anyone is stopping anyone from buying birth control.

Re: Women consider long-term birth control now that Trump victory looms over reproduc

Condoms are free.

Condoms also have a much higher failure rate than long term birth control.

Abortions are still legal, better get those while they're free too, huh?

They can buy their pills from Canada. Better yet, move to Canada.

There was a typo in my post.

It should read she can not longer use birth control pills because of a medical reason.

Abortions are not free.

actually they can't. Canada has very strict immigration policies. You need a sponsor, you need to already have a job, your employer has to prove that there is no canadian who can fill that job...etc

What???? You mean they enforce their laws? And all the Canadians on this board that bitch and moan about how bigoted we are.

Planned Parenthood, come on!

Actually in the long run an IUD is much cheaper than monthly pills. If she take special pills at $30/month for 5 years that would be $1,800 compared to an IUD of $800-$1,000. So the insurance and people would actually save money to get an IUD.

Edit: just to add that kind of up front money can be tough for some so it is nice to have insurance help pays thr costs of a long term birth control like that.

We're all stuck on this rock together. We are going to pay for the bad decisions of others one way or the other, be it emergency room bills, welfare, or incarceration.

Exactly and why not take the easiest and cheapest way of providing good birth control. Seems like a no brainer to some of us.

Re: Women consider long-term birth control now that Trump victory looms over reproduc

For a lot of girls/women it was.
My daughter had/has PCOS and endometriosis which stated when she was a preteen. She started her periods at age 10. She had irregular periods but very painful and very heavy when she had them. She had to have exploratory surgery at 13 years of age to find out what was casing her severe pain. That's when her GYN specialist discovered the endometriosis and the multiple cysts on her ovaries. She needed to go on a special birth control pills which ran over $70 a month and that was back in the 1990s.
The GYN said the PCOS was so bad if my daughter weren't so young she would recommend taking the ovaries out ...but she wanted to leave them there in case my daughter wanted to become a mom in the future.

That sounds awful. But I thought we were talking about the average woman who has very little reproductive issues getting birth control.

Re: Women consider long-term birth control now that Trump victory looms over reproduc

Planned Parenthood, come on!

Elective abortions are not free.( thereputic abortions for rape, incest , risk to the woman's life are covered through Medicaid for the poor)
There is a fee for abortions.
There are abortion funds where individuals and pro choice organizations ( such as pro choice churches ) may donate funds to help cover the costs but they are not free.

From Fund abortion now:

Unfortunately, abortion funds cannot afford to cover the whole cost of your abortion. Abortion funds will give you as much as they can, and they may also help you get a clinic discount or connect you with other resources.

It was really hard on her especially early on before we found the cause of the promblem and got her a good endocronogist. She had to have meds because her harmons were out of wack ...too much male hormones not enough female hormones along with a slew
of other medical issues including the pain with ovulation and with the heavy periods.

Trump has not called for a ban on birth control.
He hasn't said anything about removing birth control from health insurance.
More manufactured reasons to be hysterical.
