Trump victory spurs protests nationwide

Hypocrisy?

If you shoot at someone, and then see they're about to fire back, you have no right to tell them to hold their fire.

This is the way the game is played now. Democrats need to "Make Trump a one term President." That should be their goal. Block everything he proposes, even if they agree with it--even if it would be good for the nation.

The GOP spent 8 years obstructing the function of the government and weaseled their way into a Supreme Court majority, and now they're going to ask the Democrats to play nice?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I keep hearing this about the gop but other than blocking the scotus process what did they block?

Here's what I say to them, even though I despise Trump and am scared as hell of what's going to happen:

TOUGH SH!T!!!

How dare you sit on your asses and don't get out to vote when Donald 'f'ing Trump was a possibility.

I don't want to hear anything from the African American Community, who turned in lesser numbers for this election than they did for Obama. I don't want to hear Latinos whining about what happens to the illegals because they didn't turn out in big enough numbers either.

Women? Same damn thing.

You people stayed at home and now you reap what you've sow.

Thankfully I live in California and am a professional white male. It's not about anyone else's skin anymore but my own and that of my family's. If this people are so upset, then they should be protesting outside the doors of those who couldn't be bothered to mail in a g'damn ballot.

 They likely couldn't be bothered to vote because they didn't like anyone running. If they protest outside peoples homes they better keep their asses on public property or they might just find themselves arrested.

Great point. The answer is: not much. If you remember, it was the senate that was the immovable object. Nothing got through there. And the blame for that fell directly upon one man: Harry Reid.

Meh, I disagree with the conclusion. I think Trump will turn out to be such a disaster that buyer's remorse will end up being almost certain. But that's just my personal prediction.

I think he is going to surprise us. I think he will lean on Mike Pence a lot.

You may find this Maureen Dowd article provocative: Absorbing the Impossible - The New York Times

Interesting until this line:

"It is unthinkable to imagine the most overtly racist candidate..."

I suggest this tip for the left, and the shaken to the core types:

Stop with the lies and the deceit. Stop with these offensive accusations.

Voters took this message and all the others that were invented and jammed them back in the cesspool where they belong.

Take the hint.

Oh he was those too. I saw the shock on his face as he was making his way to the podium. It was just there for a second but then I think he put on his "game" face.
Was it a, "I can't believe I really pulled this off.", kind of look?

I didn't see it, so I don't know.

1. We don't have any choice but to give him a chance
2. He deserves the same chance Obama got from the GOP

If the Dems have any backbone, which is a questionable proposition, they'll behave exactly how the GOP has for the last 8 years. Block/filibuster everything.

Wait, wasn't the left all upset about that tactic? They came out as totally against it. They are supposed to lie down and give in to anything Trump wants now.

Multiple reports of flag-burning at these "protests", some of it presumably by non-Americans.

Didn't you get the memo, according to some here two wrongs make a right, so do not get upset if the Dems perform exactly how the GOP set the example on how to do it.

They were against it before they were for it.

I wonder how many of these people just a few weeks ago were slamming Trump for not promising to accept the election results?

Trump won; people need to get over it.

McConnell has been a piece of garbage. He makes his little deals, then gives Obama anything he wants. I want him gone almost as much as Obama. An absolute failure as Majority Leader. I think Obama must love him.

For a "nationwide" protest it sure seems limited in scope.

But really, McConnell laid down like a dog for Obama. What are you complaining about? He didn't block anything. There is almost nothing that Obama would have gotten done with Democrat control of both houses that he didn't get with McConnell.

Then they would be Republicans. Weren't they the ones who kept saying "Go high when they go low"? I guess that BS was just a 10 second sound byte after all.

I hope the Trump Presidency inspires more people to grow some balls and stand up to the state for once in our country 'tis of thee.

These clowns didn't stand up to Obama. Why not?

Hey I did not make the rules, this is going to fun, in a way to watch.

I think that's just the way the game is played now. I don't like it--I certainly didn't like it when the Republicans did it. But what's the alternative? The Dems can't just roll over. And look what obstinance has done for the GOP. It worked for them. Any thinking by the Dems that if they work with Republicans, that such cooperation will be reciprocated down the road would be naive in the extreme.

At this point though, I give up. Trump is going to be the face of the nation for at least four years, but none of his policies should affect my rights one wit. I've been in the Army and I'm too old to get drafted back in. My two older kids aren't going because one is too old, the other ineligible, and my youngest is severely asthmatic, so military service is right out for all of them. Plus they're all white. I take the bar exam in July so my second career kicks off around this time next year. Things like trade wars, declining markets, etc. shouldn't affect me all that much considering the fields I'm choosing to work in. And if there are mass deportations, so be it. I casted my vote against Trump, but not enough people saw it that would be affected by it couldn't be bothered to vote, so whatever.

Nothing short of nuclear war scares me. It's those who didn't get out and vote who should be scared. But that's on them.

Except the republicans are in total control..

Oh snap..

I heard that Hillary's concession speech was delivered by email.

How did Obama work out ? 8 years of nothing but debt . Find a "safe zone" and hide out .

Nah, we'll do what you guys have been doing. Blame Trump for cloudy days and burnt out lightbulbs.

So no new laws/legislation have been passed and signed in the last eight years?

:doh

I expect democrats to try and stop some of his actions....that is their job

They will succeed on some, and lose on others....

Which is also supposed to happen

They can't nor would they want to try and stop all legislation....

The biggest issues will be scotus judges
