A proposed new law will require that all home thermostats have non-removable radio receivers in them so that officials can control your home thermostats from a central location in California??

Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

Next thing you know, the Almighty state will pass a bill forcing us to put radio recievers in our penises so they can control when we can have an erection. Enough is enough. It's a slippery slope when you begin to surrender your privacy to the government. Today, our homes. Tomorrow, our penises.

I was trying my best to think up what kind of "emergency situation" might necessitate controlling people's thermostats. I couldn't think of any.

I guess you guys didn't hear about the state trying to ban black cars.

Its because they retain more heat and all that global warming stuff.

Re: State Proposes to Take Control of Home Temps

So my first reaction was shock but then I read that it was for emergency situations. Now before I go and fly off the handle I'd just like to know what qualifies as an emergency situation. If it is used like the emergency broadcasting system or something like that when major damage could be prevented by using it then okay, but I honestly can't see much point. I'm not sure how this helps anything other than to add more bureaucracy.

Re: State Proposes to Take Control of Home Temps

The government has no need to control my thermostat. Water or power is one thing, but I fail to see how the temperature of my house is anyones business but my own. What is the rational behind such a stupid proposal?
