Judge orders canceled NC voters to be reinstated | TheHill

A federal judge ruled Friday that voters whose registrations were canceled as a result of North Carolina’s “individual challenge law” must be restored to the voter rolls, according to CNN.

"The court concludes that the balance of the equities and public interest factors weigh decidedly in favor of protecting eligible voters who are being removed from the voter rolls," wrote U.S. District Court Judge Loretta Briggs.

Lawyers for the NAACP had argued that thousands of voter registrations in three counties were canceled after a small group of people challenged them based "exclusively on mass mailings that were returned as undeliverable."

"The judge's order today ensures that voters improperly challenged in three North Carolina counties will be restored to the voter rolls before Election Day," Allison Riggs, a lawyer for the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, told CNN.

In order to vote you must present a valid address usually. If you have mailed returned that you do not live there than you must supply your correct address.
this is usually because if you move then you can change districts in voting.

its actually more due to the demographics


GOP voters tend to be rural or suburban. transient urban voters tend to be Democrats.

If Joe Farmer dies, chances are someone showing up at the VFW hall in East Jesus Ohio and trying to vote under his name is going to run into poll workers who were at his funeral. If some guy living in a flophouse in East st Louis or the South Bronx dies and someone using his name tries to vote a few blocks away, chances are no one is going to notice.

i've checked my registration status a couple times to make sure that i haven't been purged, because the side in charge here does better when fewer people show up. as of today, they haven't kicked me off of the roster. they did make a sly little attempt, though, the ****ers.

Isn't it amazing-you never hear about a Democrat appointed judge say voting for gun rights or the GOP administration. but you do hear about Roberts voting to uphold Obamacare etc. I guess the lesson we should learn is that if you want an independent judiciary, don't appoint Democrat judges

Sure. The real election-riggers are the GOP. We've known that since 2000 when Florida scrubbed several thousand eligible voters from the rolls.

You may not have noticed this, but the GOP is not limited to one state, and the rule of federal law is not limited to one state. I know that's a lot to take in all at once, but meditate on it for a while, and you'll find out it's true.

Well, considering the GOP insists its appointed judges toe the line, I imagine they think the D do the same. It's kind of how since they GOP rigs elections, they accuse the D of doing it too.

The racists lost 5 court cases friday.

They lost because they violated the law.

I saw a few posts pretending the cases were settled because of politics. But the precedent setting case happened a while back, and the judge was republican. The law is clear, you can't deny the right to vote.

And of course every year this bull**** about "dead people" voting gets trotted out by right wingers, and after the election we find out it was all BS. So the reality is "dead" people don't vote out in the country or in E. St. Louis.
