I have a really hard time believing that. Your types have so much disdain for government. Hell, I bet you get angry when you see a police car or fire truck rushing down the highway.

Why is it bad to have the government enlist help from the public to be on the lookout for a child that has been abducted? Wow, man, just wow.

Not at all. Why would I think the text is real?

Just like banks always say they never contact you by email asking for your info, I wouldn't expect a police officer to contact me by text.

If he wants to talk to me, and wasn't fishing like this is, he can call me.

Agreed. Assisting during an Amber Alert has nothing to do with being in cahoots with the state. It's just helping find a missing child, especially if you actually saw something relevant.

Again, if I'm being enlisted for something then I expect to be paid. Since I'm not going to get paid, I'm not going to help. And really, I'm not in the habit of paying people to do a job and then doing their job for them, so no, I will not help.

Hopefully it won't ever be your kid or someone in your family that this happens to. If the majority thought as you, there would be a lot more issues. I haven't read such a selfish comment in while.

keep in mind, were NOT talking about prediction, but early warning. We're talking about having 4-20 second notice. This is critical for shutting down sensitive infrastructure (power plants, trains, bridges,etc.) and of course, notifying citizens via app.
I worked on the early warning system back in 13-14.

Throw a rock into a small lake and count how long it takes for the ripples to reach the shore line. This is analogous to how the EEW system works.

I'm still waiting for you to tell us how the state has to approve our cell phones being used. The private and public land is bought for any tower. Not state granted. I am not going to take the time to explain to you how things get built. There are approvals, permits ect. You believe whatever magical stuff you want to believe. It is not of much concern to me. I will have discussions with some people that I find intelligent; but for the most part once I realize someone is ignorant I just move along. As you can see I have moved along for some reason.

You're talking to a government employee, genius. We can't overstep and deny private legal businesses from operating in ANY state that's FEDERALLY approved. Yes, those public airwaves are FEDERALLY approved. A state denying those comms would be illegal.

Expansion and abuse of power, as usual. I don't care if there are good reasons for it, they should not have this kind of broad access to the cell phone network. Most child abductions are by someone they know, like family members or friends of family. Like 90% of the time. Rarely is it some random psycho killer like hollywood tells us. So why do they need to send a message to tens of thousands of people. Is ti some kind of intimidation tactic to let the public know they are powerful? Seriously, screw off.

This is nothing though. Stingray technology lets them setup shop right beside a cell tower, and make copies of every single text message going through the entire network. No warrant required. They won't even reveal to the public how many stingray machines they have, how often they use them, or how.
