Rodrigo Duterte, in Japan, Calls for U.S. Troops to Exit Philippines in 2 Years

He sees china as a growing power and America in decline thanks to 25 years of bad decisions and poor leadership in washington by the political class

Yea I know I said he's a nutjob

Hardly

America is drifting into chaos and disfunction whereas china appears to be rising.

What intelligent leader in the region would not want to be with a winner instead of a loser?

Chinese poverty continues to break records year by year. Their trade culture with the Americas has declined. If the US economy lowers, so does its own. This post you made is nothing more than some North Korean propaganda piece.

Exactly. Our economy and China's are so intertwined now that becoming more adversarial does neither any good. We are dependent on each other. Them more than us.

Can you articulate in full how Obama ****ed up by allowing a democratically elected foreign leader to run his own country? Let me guess, this is all because Obama cancelled his visit after Duterte called Obama a "son of a whore", right?

You people complain when our leaders suck foreign dick then complain when our leaders don't. Gee, why didn't Obama cozy up with a fanatic who calls for extra-judicial street killings of innocent people?

So to summarize your position, Trump couldn't possibly be a stooge because it would be too obvious and we can't trust anything he says?
What a simply idiotic post.

However, it is pretty much on par with what I have grown to expect from you. Good lord man, get your head out of your gluteus maximus. First of all, how did I imply anything else but that he drove them away? Wasn't this the guy who was going to talk to everybody, ameliorate the troubles in the world? Yet, instead of calming our enemies he is driving away long time friends, eh?

Secondly, where did I EVER IMPLY THAT A DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED LEADER OF A COUNTRY CANNOT RUN HIS COUNTRY THE WAY HE WANTS... I have yet to observe you in taking a position worthy of being considered one of rational thought... nor of rational debate.

Third, how can one act morally superior when one uses drone attacks to kill targeted opponents AND innocent civilians? Where were the judicial proceedings proceeding those killings, eh? Or one who attacks a country that has not threatened it as Obama did with Libya? Or draws invisible and embarrassing red lines against another country that, incidentally, also has not attacked us?

Maybe its time to assay the hypocrisy in more than one direction? And maybe apply some Vaseline if your head is stuck too deep?

This should surprise no one, the Philippines is quickly and intentionally aligning themselves with China (and Russia.)

The concerns over the South China Sea, and surrounding area, territorial claims have changed. Our occupation of The Philippines being adversarial to their new intentions was a likely result of all this, and we very well may have to exit the picture unless a future President's administration can turn relations around. I do not see it happening, and odds are our support will stay firmly behind Japan and South Korea.

Are you crazy? Vaseline is a petroleum product. Maybe try some coconut butter. ;)

What is the point of us having bases there? Is it right for us to tell them how they should run their country? Who they should ally with?

Wait until you see the effects of this latest development on the rest of East Asia. Japan will feel increasingly vulnerable, since the South China Sea is vital for Japan's economy. It could be possible to see a pro-nationalist backlash vote occur in Japan, sometime down the road, if they start feeling too insecure.

You're being over dramatic. Our presence in all of those countries is so much money in the bank for the host nation. They'd really have to want to lose that monopoly if everyone did that. The leader of the Philippines is a nutjob.

He's already got both palms outstretched, begging money from Beijiing:

He figures Chinese investment will keep his country's economy afloat even in the absence of US investment. Well, China does spend its money more wisely than the US does, in many ways. They're the rising power, while the US is on the defensive.

The chinese gdp will soon exceed ours

But small nations look at more than economics

They see china building new islands in the south china sea and arming them with missiles

Then they see chinese warplanes buzzing US warships in the area and obama does nothing

Small nations respect power and America after 25 years of bad leadership looks weak and getting weaker

THE ART OF THE DEAL by Rodrigo Duterte

(the first thing a really good negotiator does is to outline his extreme position)

Japan will feel increasingly vulnerable, since the South China Sea is vital for Japan's economy.

This isn't even remotely America's problem or concern.

You are 100% correct.

If China sent warships into the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, you'd change your Depends on the hour.

It's none of our business.

This Kim Jung Un rationale is hilarious.

China has no inherent right to the South China Sea. It certainly has no right to bully other countries around it to support its fantasy.

Rodrigo Duterte - a strong challenger for most insane leader in the world - Kim Jung Il is in his bunker trying to devise a way to regain his crown.

Yet the insane leader is thumping Kerry and Obama left and right.

You once again are saying that Obama "drove him away" yet have refused to answer my question: How did he do that? Please, describe to us in detail how Obama has mismanaged the situation and drove Duterte away from us. When you're able to actually answer that simple question I'll consider answering the others.

Cool. Let's leave and start some infrastructure projects. If they don't want us there, we shouldn't be there.

Yep. They elected him, and if that's what they want, then we have no right to force ourselves on a free country. If it doesn't stay free, oh well. The people or the military can foment a coup on a guy who probably showed the signs of being dangerous before he was elected. Or maybe this will work out for them. Whatever the case, the U.S. doesn't have the right to force itself on a sovereign nation.

You're not going to get a coherent answer. Obama is either the craftiest tyrant to have ever come to power in the United States, or he is the weakest coward to ever come to power in the United States. The event decides the narrative. Here, Obama should exercise iron fisted military power to cow Duterte into compliance, which would show the world 'Murica means business and is to be feared and respected. But if Obama did that, then he would be the crafty tyrant intent on oppressing a democratically elected government, just like he has done in our own beloved land.

Now, the oddball thing is that according to Trump's stated policy, Trump would somehow cut a deal to make the Filipino people pay for the U.S. military to be there, and if not, then we would pull out. In sticking as close to reality as possible, the Filipino people, through Duterte, would laugh and tell us to GTFO, which is already happening. In other words, the result would be exactly the same. But if it happened under Trump, it would be a good thing.

America has no rights to Police the South China Sea or bully China on behalf of other countries.

The Depends remark was uncalled for.

but it shows how insecure you are which leads to the need to attack other posters when you cant refute their ideas.

I expect that the chinese navy does sail in all international waters which includes the Gukf Of Mexico.

Keeping the South China Sea open to all countries isn't really policing or bullying, sorry.
