The drug problem in America is growing and becoming worse.

Heroin overdoses are getting higher and addiction is becoming an epidemic.
it is a horrible thing.

I see what drug abuse does to people it isn't pretty. It ruins lives destroys families and neighborshoods.
It enslaves people. I have sympathy for people addicted.

As far as I know, most people here weren't personally responsible for things our government did in secret. So this whole fake outrage where you say no American can speak out against things that are happening in the world is rather pathetic. I assume you don't paint with such a broad brush when dealing with atrocities that happen in the Muslim community, or other groups, correct?

We could stop heresy if we would burn young girls (witches) at the stake.

We could stop marijuana use if we would cut off penises and tits.

But that's not the place I want to live in.

They have a near dictatorship, and declare marshal law at the drop of a hate. The cops make the Mexican Federales look like honest boy scouts.

I think for the Philippines this makes perfect sense in the world of realpolitik .

The US has been trying to goad China into an arms race for a while now by its provocative actions in the South China Sea, inflating minor disputes between neighbours into something they are not

This may well suit the American agenda but what has the Philippines to gain from any of this and why should it get involved ?

In no particular order...

1) I'm not saying we should be like The Phillipines. I'm pointing out that Dutarte took legal means to address a problem and the people supported him in doing so. Last time I checked our Justice system was a joke as well. It's not "3rd world country" bad but the Founding Fathers have been rolling in their graves for decades.

2) Continuing on point 1: Dutarte took a viable action that is spelled out explicitly in the founding document of his country. The U.S. had no grounds to criticize him besides "that's not nice".

3) If we, as the U.S., don't like the Phillipine Constitution then we should have helped them write one. Instead we tried to turn them into a client state under the promise of "self rule-eventually: we promise". Again, it was not and is not our place to criticize Dutarte.
