This has got to be the nail in his political coffin. He may have just handed Hillary the election.

I don't think so. Trump's said a bunch of stupid **** before this and got past it, and I don't think this is going to bring his campaign down now.

The sad state of American politics. A sizable section of the population will hear this shake their heads in disgust and still vote Trump simply because he is the only viable option to stop worse candidate, hillary, from getting elected.

Well I know I'm not pissed off. If Donald didn't keep doing things like this he wouldn't have a 24.5% chance of winning the election on 538. If he announces tomorrow that "Hitler made some good arguments" then I'm celebrating for a week.
 
Well according to the left on another thread Hilter did have some good arguments. The German universal healthcare system is being praised for its sucess over the last 100 years. Not sure that gets you a celebratory week, but a victory beer should be in order for you.

I've said that so many times about Trump in the past I can't even keep count. And then....noting. His supporters are so brainwashed and so lacking in critical thinking skills that they will actually tell you that this was a good thing coming from his mouth, and will provide some ignorant bull**** to justify their stupid claims.

I thought the Obamabots in 2008 were brainwashed. They were nothing compared to the 2016 Trumpkins.

The good news is that a healthy portion of GOP voters will turn on him like Piggy in Lord of the Flies. Many turned on McCain when he lost and the same thing happened with Romney. Both are persona non grata among millions of GOP'ers.

But in this case, the blowback is going to be even worse.

If you're referencing what I said about the durability and quality of the German healthcare system...

1. It actually began in the late 19th Century, about 45 years before Hitler came to power.

2. The continued success of a popular healthcare policy isn't an "argument."

3. Hitler isn't in power today and Germany still has universal healthcare. Quick note: Hitler was killed in 1945, which was 71 years ago.

4. Germany's healthcare system didn't put Hitler into power.

5. World War II has been over for almost exactly the amount of time that Hitler's been dead.

But I do hear that Hitler understood that 2 + 2 = 4. Therefore, we should probably do away with addition in mathematics.

It confounds me that any Republicans even supported him in the first place, given the fact that the man is no more a Republican himself than my dog is.

If the GOP thought the hangovers from McCaine and Romney were bad, this one's gonna truly epic. It appears that Trump has finally crashed and is going to get stomped like a barrel of hairy orange grapes come election day. Five-Thirty-Eight has three different methods of predicting who's going to win the election.

Going by polls, the economy, and historical data, Hillary has a 76.1% chance of winning in November.
The Polls Only forecast says Hillary has a 79.9% chance
If the election were held today? 86.8%

Where does the GOP go from here? They can't go any further right. They've allowed "the base" to push them to that point and the only way of changing is to move back toward the center to enough of a degree that they can take back the center-right and some of the center. But those centers have move left over the past 20 years (e.g. marriage equality).

They could also try doing things to actually make the lives of Americans better too. Sounds crazy, but it's something they may want to consider.

Anyway, the Trump Hangover is going to be vicious. It'll be the political equivalent of a blackout drinking binge in Tijuana where they've woken up naked on a beach and all their clothes, their wallet, and even their giant comb has been stolen from them.
