A teacher’s aide at a Georgia elementary school has been fired after posts she wrote on Facebook surfaced last week, enraging community members and people across the country who saw her words shared widely online.

In them, the aide, Jane Wood Allen, called first lady Michelle Obama a “gorilla” repeatedly and said she is a “disgrace to America!” according to images of the now-deleted posts obtained by local media.

Many Facebook users immediately called for her termination and used the hashtag #FireJaneWoodAllen. “I am disgusted that this woman is an ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EMPLOYEE,” one woman wrote on Facebook. “Please if you’re sickened by this like I am email the superintendent and file a complaint!”

On Monday, the district announced the aide had been “relieved from duty and is no longer an employee of Forsyth County Schools.”

I really want to be more upset that she was fired over something she said on facebook, But if she posted it for others to readily find, well she should not be surprised of the response.

Do something that can harm your employer's operations, even on your own time, gonna get the boot. that's the world. Maybe she's learned the lesson now and can be a grownup finally.

Yes, she's probably got Donald Trump in her crosshairs as an example of how a grown up behaves.

The future of this country is in the chaos with people like this out there. Bad enough to think it. Really bad to post it on your Facebook page. She must have lost her Stormfront password.

I'm a strong supporter of our First Amendment rights.

I'm also a strong supporter of employers having the option to terminate employees who they feel reflect poorly upon them.

She is a colossal assclown.

She was an aide for 27 years, so she's no kid. She's old enough to know better.

Maybe she can go work for The Donald.

Why should somebody lose their job for their opinion?

If this was said about Sarah Palin or anybody on the right, she would have been just fine.

Have we ever heard a story about somebody criticizing a right leaning women and then getting fired?

It could hurt their reputation. And I'm sure the school doesn't want to be associated with someone that makes racist comments on Facebook.

If this lady had a brain, she'd have known better than to refer to Michelle Obama as a gorilla on Facebook.

I agree. Racists like this woman have no place in public education. All people spouting a racist message, no matter who they are, should be exposed and purged.

If they are pushing a racist agenda, or supporting racist causes, even if only on Facebook, or some other form of social media, they should have their employment terminated immediately.

Of course, there is the slippery slope issue, but many people don't pay attention to that.......

A large amount of people not only finding out about the post in question, but freaking the **** out about it. The chances of that happening however are very close to zero. It's really not a high enough chance to warrant employers spying on what their employees are doing in their free time.

I wonder where this kind of crap will stop. People decide who can have a job and who can't with employers that have no integrity where their employees are concerned.

Somebody says they don't like a Facebook post and the woman loses her job.

It is complete bull****.
