My daughter and her family live on the east coast of Florida, and they have everything battened-down.
6,000kw generator, wired into the house and function-checked, check.
Gasoline cans full, check.
All the cars full of gasoline, and the oil changed, check.
Food, water, beer, whiskey, all stocked-up, check.

All of the friends and neighbors assisted with the boarding-up of their windows, check.

Most of the neighbors gone and moved-inland, check.

My prayers go out tonight to my daughter and her family and friends.
And to their friends and associates in The Bahamas, and their relatives in Cuba.

My prayers probably don't amount to jack-s****.
I'm a lapsed-Catholic agnostic with a realistic view of the world.
But I'm praying anyway.

Screw it.
I'm proud of my Florida family and friends.

No matter how it goes over the next few days, they won't sit around pissing and moaning about what the State or Federal government did or didn't do, or what they should or shouldn't have done.
They just take care of their friends and family and neighbors, and they move on and take care of business.

Fingers crossed for a relatively-mild Matthew passage.

This is nice and all, and I wish your family and friends well, but why is this in the Breaking News section?

A hurricane destroying much of Cuba and the Bahamas, and threatening to do the same to much of Florida?

I don't know.
Seems news-worthy to me.

Unless Kim Kardashian has done something sporty and sexy that matters more.

I'll leave it up to the forum membership to decide.

Breaking news has specific rules, hence the question.

You people have your butts wired so tight, I couldn't drive a needle up it with a sledge-hammer, I swear.

Delete the thread, if it offends you so Goddamned much.

Yep supposed to be a category 4 hurricane that is about 30 miles off shore.
We have everything prepped and we are ready to go as well.

Winds to get up to 100 miles an hour with up to 10 inches of rain.

All my thoughts and prayers are with you tonight, friend ludin.

Floridians are a sturdy lot, and I have faith in you and your family.

Not worried about it.
I have seen thunderstorms roll through with 60 70 mile an hour winds traveling
At 25 miles an hour.

A lot of the people that are in the worst part have already left and I think we are having
A hurricane party at the in laws.
