Southwest said in a statement that passengers and airline employees were taken off Flight 994, which was scheduled to leave for Baltimore, after a customer reported “smoke emitting from a Samsung electronic device.”

The Verge identified the passenger as Brian Green and his phone as “a replacement Galaxy Note 7.”
And I was waiting for the replacement before buying.
I like the larger phone as fonts get smaller as I age
Now what??
Samsung is going to take a big hit on this.
They have also taken big hits on appliances they make.

WOW, talk about horrible PR.

ISIS contacts Samsung regarding endorsement deal, news at 11.

This is bad simply because of the severity, however this is their only phone to do his.

I have always owned Samsung phone and I really like them. I will be getting the s8 or the s7
Not sure which.

I have heard so so hints about the appliances though.

Samsung isn't the only smart phone out there. You've got Apple, HTC, Motorola, BLU, LC, Microsoft Lumia, JUNING, Figo, among others. No need to risk becoming a crispy critter.

All Smartphones can burst into flames.

In the case of the Note 7, it is a battery manufacturing fault. Until an investigation is done, then I would not take Southwest or anyone elses but the final reports word for what happened. Can you take your iPhone or other brand phone and make it burst into flames? yes, it is quite easy. Use the wrong charger, a cheap cable or even a compromised Apple cable. Sit on it, or bend it so the battery gets compromised.. the list goes on and on. That is why "bendgate" had the potential to be a safety issue, and yet the press never jumped on that.. funny. And yes there were quite a few iPhone 6 that did burst into flames.

The Note 7 is by far the best phone on the market at the moment, but yest the battery issue has tainted it quite a bit. But there is nothing wrong with the S7 Edge or S7, the second best phone on the market.. well maybe the LG V20 is an equal. The iPhone 7 breaks into the top 5 though even though it is doing nothing but catch up. New Google Pixel looks awesome as well, especially the camera which is rated higher than the Note/S7 and the iPhone 7 in independent tests.

True, but it doesn't sound like the phone was being charged when this happened.

These phones would be perfect for a certain politician I can think of. No need to get the FBI to destroy evidence for you when your phone can self destruct. Maybe Samsung can make a home server to store emails on.

*hums mission impossible theme*

Nope, but it could have been... or air pressure change or whatever.. hell the battery in question could be a rare lemon. Point is that every once in a while, a phone battery blows up.. regardless of the make of the phone. There has most likely been a iPhone 7 that has "blown up", but no one is talking about that. The 6S has blown up.. very few, but it has happened.

With the Note 7 original, it was a repeatable manufacturing fault that caused the problem. The random phone batteries blowing up.. are random, rare and not linked to a specific phone make.

"Iphone - It Just Works Without Catching On Fire And Murdering Your Family And Everybody Else On An Airplane."

It's a bit of a mouthful, but I think there's something to work with there.
