South Carolina school shooting: 2 children, 1 teacher wounded, official says - CNN.com

Two children and a teacher were shot by a gunman at an elementary school in Townville, South Carolina, a spokesman for Anderson County Emergency Management told reporters Wednesday afternoon.
The suspected shooter, a teenager, is in custody, spokesman Taylor Jones said.

The students were sent to a local trauma center, Jones said.

One child was taken to Greenville Health System emergency trauma center by helicopter, spokeswoman Sandy Dees said.

Still developing.

Hoping for the best and that everyone is able to fully recover.

I'll say it again, one or more armed staff, who choose to legally carry, should be allowed to do so. Every school shooting in the country could have been minimized, or prevented, by armed, trained, staff members.

The shooter's father was found dead a few blocks from the school.

Except, of course, that that's simply empty-headed speculation with no data to substantiate it on any meaningful level. If you'd ever have been in an active shooter scenario, you'd know that.

Wrong! Nothing empty headed about it. It's based on sound judgement and experience....and I have been in several active shooter incidents with two different departments.

The first good guy on the scene with a gun, who is trained to use it properly, has a distinct advantage....long before the cops show up. If you had any real knowledge of these incidents, you'd know that!

Police protection is an oxymoron.

Sounds like the kid went ape**** for sure. Fragged his father then moved on to a school. At least none of the kids or teachers were killed.

actually he makes sense. I have had extensive active shooting training and the most important element to reducing the damage of an active shooter is to ASAP have armed individuals confront and challenge the active shooter.

I'd hate to be the one with the gun in my hand when the cops show up.

Strange that we have all these ex-military out there that with a little training could be in the schools ensuring that shooters do not get far in carrying out their agenda, it would provide security for our children and provide jobs for service men and women. So why is no one considering this obvious solution?

One of the reasons that our service men and women are finding it hard to find a job is due to widespread fears of PTSD. Ironically I'd imagine that one of the things that help with PTSD is having/getting a sense of purpose which having a job can give, so its a self defeating cycle.

Are you remembering Fort Hood fondly? ;)

Sadly, True. Same old same.

I was stationed there with 2nd AD, did not find it all that bad, training accidents happen, being a soldier can be a dangerous profession. Now if you are talking about a nutjob that was transferred there because his last command wanted to rid themselves of a problem, that can happen anywhere. By the way I never said military posts were any safer than the communities outside the main gate, not sure what your point is there.

Jesus, another Adam Lanza. My thoughts go out to the victims.

The reports I have seen said a Handgun was used. How long will it take before those wanting to ban the so called Assault Weapons will exploit this as proof such bans are needed.

Oh, about ..........................that long. The agenda is not complete until we are all defenseless.

That's why people are trained....to do the right thing and to respond in a certain manner. In most cases....the shooting is long over with before the cops get there and the good guy can put his gun away, sit down and have a smoke, or a cold one, with time to spare.

VA Tech went on for 30 minutes.....the guy killed 30 people and then himself. One armed, well trained college student or staff could have stopped him very early on....there were many opportunities. Cops were nowhere around.
Same thing for most of the incidents in schools, theaters, workplace, etc.

That's what I do everyday....train ordinary citizens to make a good shoot. ;)
