Charlotte faces aftermath of protests ignited by fatal police shooting; 12 officers injured | The Charlotte Observer

In addition to Interstate 85, protestors attacked and looted the Walmart on North Tryon Street at about 3:30 a.m. The store was closed early Wednesday, with wooden pallets piled in front of the doors and shopping carts blocking the driveway into the lot.

Three or more tractor trailer trucks were stopped and looted on Interstate 85, and at least two fires were started on the interstate, as the protestors burned items taken from the trucks.

Yet more people taking advantage of a situation to enrich themselves, while claiming to be protesting police abuse. How long until another ambush of police happens like in Texas? Where innocent people are killed in the name of black lives mattering? BLM does not endorse this, but it sure isnt helping by organizing protests which turn into riots. And the media certainly isnt helping by spreading this false narrative that police are bad, and return violence will be highlighted and celebrated.

"Protesters" don't loot, burn and attack anything.
We should stop calling them that.

Re: Charlotte faces aftermath of protests ignited by fatal police shooting

That's a good point. Looters steal and destroy.

Protesters don't harm their own communities either.

Re: Charlotte faces aftermath of protests ignited by fatal police shooting

This is a joke. You want to protest something? How about protest the existence of gangs and drugs and the people who are causing the chaos and violence? You want to stop the police from coming into your neighborhoods? Stop giving them a ****ing reason!

Ugh. What a bunch of Idiotas.

Nothing good comes out of looting and destroying people's property.

Let me get this straight... yet another unarmed black guy gets wrongly shot and killed by the police and you start a thread QQing for the police because you worry something bad just might/maybe/perhaps happen to them?

Breaking: this has zero to do with drugs or gangs. Film at 11.

according to the police chief, there was a gun found at the scene of the shooting
this indicates the victim was not "unarmed"

Re: Charlotte faces aftermath of protests ignited by fatal police shooting

It's becoming apparent that the answer is for the police to shoot a lot more, not less.

Re: Charlotte faces aftermath of protests ignited by fatal police shooting

Oh, the cop is black. Nevermind.

This was a bad shoot. The police where 100% in the wrong here. This is about like what happened in Orlando and the city had to settle a major civil lawsuit.

Guy was not their target.
No orders were given to halt or drop the gun or anything else.
Target was not identified.

By law this guy did nothing wrong and was shot.
The officer involved needs to be put on trial.

I feel sorry for the people involved but this was totally on the police.

This is what I've read...

Armed vs. unarmed
Chuck Jordan, Tulsa's police chief, said Monday at a news conference that no gun was found in Crutcher's SUV.
For Shelby, the potential threat of a weapon was a factor behind why she fired her weapon, her attorney said.

Show me what you've read so I can get up to date if this is wrong.

All it "indicates" is that a gun was found at the scene of the shooting.

The police had no business shooting the guy unless he was brandishing it or otherwise threatening them or other members of the community with the gun.

We live in a free country and our right to be armed is protected by the Constitution.

Simply being in possession of a firearm is not a shooting offense, nor does it "indicate" in any way that a police shooting was justified.

The man in question was not even the guy they were after. It was someone completely different.

The guy went out to his car and got his gun out of it. Completely legal thing to do.
Instead of stopping or attempting to see if this was the correct individual someone just shot.

It was a black cop that did it but he was still wrong.

You're the OP. Own up to your thread start.

To make it worse it wasn't even the guy they were after.
They just saw a guy get a gun out of his car and I guess given the neighborhood it would be smart to carry one.

A guy gave no order to stop or shouted police or anything else they just shot.
This is a bad shoot and possible charges to be filed on this one.

We are not talking about Tulsa we are talking about North Carolina. The guy in NC was armed as he got his gun out of his car,
however no threat or gesture was made to the cops which he probably didn't even see.

Re: Charlotte faces aftermath of protests ignited by fatal police shooting

It's becoming apparent that the answer is for the police to shoot a lot more, not less.

And, it could be argued, that the opposite is also true.

Always better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

Time is gonna come when the default reaction from some people to any interaction with the police is to shoot first, because chances are that if you don't you're only going to end up getting shot anyhow once the police have the numbers on their side and the situation manipulated to ensure a police victory and the unjustified death of another innocent citizen.

Ahhh, got it. My bad on the mix up of the two seperate locations and shootings.

He should have dropped the gun.

the family's claim was that the victim was in his car reading a book awaiting a child's arrival from school

there was no book found at the scene

there was a hand gun found at the scene
