Thank god for New York's strong gun laws - can you imagine this person armed with an assault rifle and several hundred rounds of ammo. Also thank god that he is a ****ty bomb maker/placer.

Curiously you omitted the fact that unlike most Americans, he was born in Afghanistan. And unlike most Americans, he is a Muslim.

Both of these details are important in concluding his motivation.

Vigilance is so important!

Terrorism can impose unacceptably high casualties on a nation. There is no case for forcing everyone into accepting such casualties first, as opposed to acting pre-emptively to shield the country from nations of concern where lots of terrorists come from.
