This homeless man brought the wrong kind of jack to one of the city’s new internet-enabled charging stations.
A Murray Hill resident was horrified when she witnessed a vagrant masturbating outside a charging station on Third Avenue and 31st Street while walking her dog Sunday morning.

“Police operator said there was nothing they could do unless it was actually happening (when police got there) and unless I wanted to file a police report,” Pedersen griped as she asked fellow community members if there was anything she could do.
Another resident chimed in that she saw a different creep doing the same thing at a children’s playground last week, but her call to 911 didn’t result in any actions to prevent it from happening.






In fact, the police didn’t show up at all.

DeBlasio wants to make the homeless feel safe in his city. He doesn't want them to feel like they are unwanted or otherwise thought of as lesser citizens. It's his way of encouraging them to better themselves and if that means a little spooge on a charging station or a store window or the subway or a child's playground then that's the price we pay. Really, it's not all that far removed from his stance on public urination.

You have to keep in mind that liberal social policy dictates that when any part of society can't meet a given standard then it's the responsibility of that society to lower their standards.

It seems the preferred policy is to give them resources (access?) to prevent that "need". The question is - how much would a bum demand (daily or hourly) to stop jerking off at the playground?

That is standard to get the police out for something now and it isn't just New York. We had a neighbor down from us that was blaring his music at 3am and when I called just to make a complaint I was told the only way the police would go out there is if I signed a police report. Given that I don't ever trust that information becoming public (and then have retaliation on me) I didn't file.

Who cares about other countries....? We aren't other countries, we are the US, and there are laws against exposing yourself, and gripping your joystick in public.

American cities have many mentally ill homeless people now, probably a result of financial cuts to mental illness programs, and the abundance of bad street drugs from Mexico.

Weirdest things I've personally seen homeless people do;

2 bums having sex on the side of a liquor store in San Jose.
A black homeless guy eating leaves off a branch he just pulled off a tree in downtown San Francisco.
Homeless guy walking with no pants on in Oakland.

I was only putting the harm done the kids in perspective. Personally, I find the shenanigans in a Christopher Day parade at least as bad, but I would never even dream of wanting them forbidden.

Masturbation safe zones? Why not masturbation free zones, sort of like the drug free and gun free zones and just about as effective?
