Donald Trump paid the IRS a $2,500 penalty this year, an official at Trump's company said, after it was revealed that Trump's charitable foundation had violated tax laws by giving a political contribution to a campaign group connected to Florida's attorney general.

The improper donation, a $25,000 gift from the Donald J. Trump Foundation, was made in 2013. At the time, Attorney General Pam Bondi was considering whether to investigate fraud allegations against Trump University. She decided not to pursue the case.

Bribe the AG and get fined $2,500? That'll teach him!

The relevant part for me is this.

The improper donation, a $25,000 gift from the Donald J. Trump Foundation, was made in 2013. At the time, Attorney General Pam Bondi was considering whether to investigate fraud allegations against Trump University. She decided not to pursue the case.

The attorney general receives a donation from a foundation belonging to Donald trump, who operated trump university, which was the subject of a potential investigation by the Florida attorney general.

The Florida attorney general chooses not to pursue the allegations of fraud.

Coincidence? Or pay for play?

Small potatoes? Or pay for play?

Both. Indicative...heck, PROOF, of the existence of the problem...but so small, so minuscule, as to be irrelevant. Paying off elected officials is a multi billion dollar a year industry, and if this is indicative of Trumps activities in that industry, it's akin to go in after the lowliest Nicole and dime guy on the street corner. Go after the big guys. Focusing on the small potatoes is like sticking your pinky finger into a dam that has a 300 foot diameter hole in it.

At the VERY least it has the appearance of pay to play or bribery. It is a problem that will continue to exist until we get private money out of politics.

A pittance compared to the money he bilked from folks via Trump University.

Who got billed?

Based on the explanation in the article I can see the mixup happening. If the two charities were "And Justice for All" and "Justice for All" the mistake would have been really, really easy to overlook.

So, is that an accusation of bribery?

I am fine with calling this pay to play. Now let's lock up both Trump and Hillary. I think a Pence, Kaine, Johnson, Stien race would at least produce a president that wouldn't sell America to the highest bidder like Dumb and Dumber will.

Another one caught....but this one was fined and he paid it....... So...... while his action was indeed wrong enough to be fined, he paid his "debt" to society? Would he do it again? Not sure..... but whats the problem here?

You have indications of much larger... Pay 2 Play scandal........and no fines, no investigation, no criminal wrong doing? Um yeah,..... Ok........ Nothing to see keep moving along.....

Accusations don't equate with guilt in the real world. Actual guilt does.

One less lawsuit.

Is there any proof of that?

Bondi announced she was considering filing for Florida to join the fraud case against Trump then personally solicited a donation from him. A check for $25,000 was cut by Trump's family charity foundation four days later and Bondi announced that Florida would not join the lawsuit after the check had been received by a political action committee backing her campaign. The optics are that this was a bribe solicited by Bondi.

So when is Hillary going to get her comeuppance?
