"Mexico will pay for the wall. 100%. They don't know it yet but they're going to pay for the wall," Trump said as his supporters roared.

No they won't. Mexico already said they wouldn't pay for it. And how could Trump possibly convince/force Mexico to pay for a giant border wall that isn't even in their own interest?

His entire immigration plan depends on Mexico paying for that border wall, so without it his entire plan is pretty much bunk.

The way Trump can make them pay for the wall is to make it "in their interest" to pay for it. So...the question, then, is what will interest them?

Money, perhaps?

Wait, so we're going to pay Mexico so they will pay for the border wall? Wouldn't we still end up paying for the wall in that scenario?

Well, whatever it is, I want to hear it from Trump. He's gotta have some sort of idea how he's going to convince Mexico to pay for it.

You people just lack imagination. When Trump starts deporting 11 million people Mexico will build a wall to stop them from all coming back over.:lol:

I'll hand Trump this much, he made a move today to really advance his campaign and to advance the media narrative into actual issues instead of snarky crap.

Trump could push to cut off some funding to Mexico. He could force trade agreements harming Mexico. He could supply drug cartels with weapons like Obama. He could limit travel. The USA could inflict economic hardship on Mexico realitivly easy.


All that said the wall idea is stupid. But increases in boarder security and deportations of illegals, especially those convinced of other crimes, is logical for our safety

You, like others, don't get it. We won't "pay them to pay for the wall"...we will stop paying them (which we do right now) until they pay for the wall.

Frankly, I'm surprised you don't know about this, since Trump has already laid out his strategy. But hey...you are here to learn, right?

A metaphorical wall?

Why would illegal aliens sneak across the border if they couldn't get a job, couldn't get any welfare benefits, couldn't . . . . . and were all deported once they were discovered trying to. Yeah, that might be kinda a wall.

Back in Regan's administration, a deal was struck. Regan would amnesty all the illegal aliens already here, and the Democrats would support / pass securing the border. Regan delivered, amnesty was granted. The Democrats didn't, and so, some years later, we have this mess. It is time to secure the borders, finally. One way or another.

Yes. It is a pretty fair discussion of Trump's strategy. However, even though some people contend it'll work and some contend it won't work we won't know for sure until it is tried. It is my opinion that it is worth a shot.

Regardless, though, if Trump is elected he says he will do it.
