North Korea Fires Missile from Submarine

Funny answer. Do you think I am qualified to be President of the United States? I guess you must, since you think I have those answers and access to top secret information. Hillary is no longer SOS, so that info is not available. I'm flattered anyway, thank you!

Two simple questions were asked of you, and you refuse to answer them. That says all we need to know about your opinion. You can't back it up, you can't suggest an alternative action. You can't even tell me whether North Korea respected us in 2007. And you're still dodging.

I see you took it in a homosexual way. Okay, whatever you like.

Your projection of your own self-hating sexual nature is no excuse for running from the simple questions you were asked.

Why can't you answer the questions? What's got you so emotional?

The day will come when those NoKo missile boats are lurking off America's shores.

This is a valid National Security concern as there's no way to detect a quiet diesel electric sub.

Turnabout is fair play I guess.

Not quite a true equivalence. In one case a proven irrational and unstable leader in Kim Jong Il who would be fully in character to order such an attack on another nation, were as the US hasn't attacked any nation with a sub launched nuclear missile.

We are really not interested in what is "fair" with regard to evil nations with nuclear missiles.

If not evil, at least unstable.

No it won't.

How an you possibly be so certain about this? Kim Jong Il has already proven, through actions he's already taken, that he's fundamentally unstable. There are no restraints to his actions and orders in the North Korean system of government that would prevent such order from being issued and followed.

Now, now. No need to cover it up. Nothing wrong with it, except you are going way off the subject.

Again, you don't have to keep braying your self loathing from the rooftops.

Twice is more than enough.

Why are you still running from such simple questions? What are you so afraid of?

Wow a NY Pissed hit piece on lefty presidents. Imagine that?

Aren't you imaginative.....NY Pissed. LOL, wow very impressive.

He may be a nutjob but it would be suicide for him to even send one of his little boats to our shores, we would sink it and then put a whole lot of ours off his shores and they would not be there to see the sights.

And he would do this how? Just curious because no American President has been able to control NK since 1954.

He could of gotten a crate of presidential Air Jordands teamed up with Denis Rodman and challenged Kim III to a little 2 on 2. Do a little juking, sink a few 3es, maybe even throw a somw elbows teaching Kim a little Chi town street rules. Then after skoolin' that little chump on who's house it was they could retire to a quiet golf course to talk about chipping while deciding on the appropriate size of the Clinton Foundation donation needed to make this all to away.

If we can find it. The ocean is a big place, and diesel electric subs are very, very quiet and hard to find in the first place.

Not their diesel electric subs.. Also they are pretty small I believe the biggest is 1800 tons doubt they have the rang to get to even hawai.

Kim Jong Il has already proven, through actions he's already taken, that he's fundamentally unstable.

Kim Jong Il is fundamentally dead. I assume you're referring to Kim Jong Un.

They make a racket, only while on electric are they silent and that time is limited, as in WWII. Down they go.

Kim-Jong-Il has been dead for years. His son, Kim-Jong-Un, is in power now.

North Korea is complex issue given it's Geography. China see's N.Korea as a buffer between pro U.S countries South Korea, and Japan. It is so important to China they lost over one million troops over it in the Korean war. The president has launched stringent sanctions, and promised South Korea the deployment of the THAAD anti ballistic missile system. This action caused tensions with China, even though the missile system is strictly a defensive system, and can not be used offensively.

In my opinion North Korea will fall like Ceaușescu Romania, and it will come out of no where as in Romania. North Korea biggest ace in the hole was always shutting out information going in to the country - no more the black market for illegal flash drives, cell phones, and C.D disks going in to the North, is the biggest threat to the regime. The President has done all he can, and as much as any other president in the past.

Ahh, right. You are right on that one. It's Un.
But really, they should stop picking their names using random scrabble tiles. ;)

Electric submarine propulsion has come a long way since WW II, both in speed and endurance.

Last I recall electric boats are damn near impossible to detect even with the advanced gear the US Navy has.

[h=3]Littoral ASW[/h] Littoral ASW operations protect naval forces, commercial and logistics shipping from enemy submarines, and thereby enable naval forces to project power ashore, conduct strategic sealift operations, and control or interdict sea lines of communications (SLOCs) that affect littoral objectives. In the context of US joint force operations, successful littoral ASW clears the undersea battlespace of hostile submarine influence and permits US and combined forces to maneuver at will to best employ their assets at the time and place of their choosing. In limited regional conflicts, the loss or crippling of a key ship could unacceptably disrupt joint or naval force operations. The political realities of many regional conflicts could allow an adversary to equate a stalemate at sea with a strategic victory.

The ASW systems and practices employed in the open-ocean are not necessarily those that work best in littoral waters. Littoral ASW requires a complementary set of capabilities that address the special circumstances of naval operations in littoral waters. The littoral battlespace's complex, noisy environment undermines the effectiveness of acoustic ASW sensors optimized for deep water, open-ocean ASW. In this environment, increasingly quiet and capable submarines operated by potential adversaries further erode the position held by open-ocean ASW forces. Quiet threats operating in harsh environments increase the utility of non-acoustic and active acoustic sensor systems. To be effective, sensors must be able to automatically adapt to the environment.

Diesel-electric submarines constitute a growing threat, one that can be difficult to detect and defend against in shallow water. Uncountered, these submarines can disrupt shipping and shut down vital sea lanes in littoral areas. Many navies now operate diesel submarines, and additional countries could well follow suit.

So not only is the electric sub really quite, the Littoral battle space is noisy in which is can better hide.

So I find your confidence misplaced. I'd urge a more cautious stance.

Did you forget that it is North Korea we are talking about, now you were saying something about their advances.

It's bad to underestimate your opponents.
