Chicago police release video related to shooting of unarmed man

I knew this was coming.......you deflect after stating yourself that blacks are the victims.

You are not just ignorant on the issue, you are a phoney.

I would agree that blacks end up being the biggest victims but it's not because racist cops are singling out and executing blacks. It's because cops are taking on less interactive roles in the communities that need their assistance most.

The Drew petersons of the police force need to be weeded out but jumping to conclusions that automatically assume the worst and politicizing the false narrative that these shootings are racially motivated does more harm than good.

Denying the existence of racism within the police force, and that it affects events, is racist.

Ok, "Countryboy". I'm sure we live in utopia and there is no racism transcending our housing, employment and justice system.

I don't know how you got to that conclusion from what he said.

The police are not social workers, playground managers, or public shrinks. They enforce the law of their individual cities, and smaller communities where the mayors and city counsels make the rules. They do not make up quota's like some people say. They do what they are told to do.

Too ridiculous. Do you understand the term "per capita"? The country is only 13% blacks, so of course in raw numbers they are shot less. That does not excuse the per capita stats.

Yup. Only 13% of the population, but they commit over 50% of the homicides.

Denying that a large percentage of street blacks often manipulate the the system while dealing with the laws, and police......................... is racist.

Its not institutional like many believe but I don't dispute that racism exists.

The video is horrific. That kid was driving like he had a death wish... BUT what in hell were those police officers thinking, firing off dozens of rounds in the middle of a neighborhood? Anyone walking outside to see what the shouting was about could have been killed.

FWIW, I'm glad those three are no longer able to carry their weapons, and hope they will soon no longer be police officers. Talk about a total lack of judgment and disregard for public safety. Oy vey.

I'm asking you, not them.

Poverty is the tempting answer, but other communities in poverty do not reproduce blacks' high homicide rate, so that can't be all of it. I've always been impressed by Daniel Patrick Moynihan's thesis from long ago: the breakdown of the black family is the center of the problem.

Just another day in Chicago.

Why don't you tell me?

Systemic privilege resulting in high poverty rates among blacks. This creates a socio-economic situation wherein violence is a means of progress in life and gangs are the only way for the disenfranchised to make something of themselves.

Or do you think it's because blacks are inferior?

I never said that either. Though it's probably true in the vast majority of cases. But whites are shot by police far more than blacks. Furthermore, a white cop is 18 times more likely to be shot by an armed black man, than an unarmed black man is, to be shot by police. I realize that doesn't jibe with the spoon fed talking points you are regurgitating, but reality is a bitch sometimes.

You'll probably dismiss this as lies...

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/jun/09/the-counted-police-killings-us-vs-other-countries

but US cops are trigger-happy, for whatever reasons.

You're confused. No one claims that US institutions openly condone racism - that's institutional racism. Systemic racism is the claim, and it exists as a matter of fact.

There's no systemic privelege. We've been over this already.

Denying that a large percentage of street blacks often manipulate the the system while dealing with the laws, and police......................... is racist.

First of all, that in no way oppresses white people as a group. So it's not racism.

Second, no one denies that.

Third, it doesn't make it ok for police to be prejudice and even flat-out racist in their dealings with the public.

Racism in our police departments is a problem. Denying that is racist.

Police draw an empirical conclusion from the fact that blacks commit more than 50% of homicides.
