Roe v. Wade will be overturned if Trump wins, Pence says

And there you have it. No more little laws, picking at Roe v. Wade. They are finally telling the truth instead of beating around the bush.

If Trump is elected, my plans are to invest in a coat-hanger factory. Business is going to be YUUUUGEEEE.

He's wrong on that count. the abortion issue is over. The bible thumpers are losing on this one just as they are losing on gay marriage More and more GOP voters are focusing on less government rather than more bible

I was thinking i would vote trump but this alone is giving me great pause. I would rather the 2nd Amend get repealed than RvW.

you're more likely to get knocked up than need a gun?

I'd rather neither got repealed.

agreed but there is no way a federal law banning abortions will ever get passed but we have had federal gun bans. the worst thing that could possibly happen for the pro choice side is a USSC ruling that states are free to decide about abortion which would mean jettisoning almost 50 years of precedent but if it were to happen, abortion would still be legal in most states. As I said, the difference is that a Hillary presidency will try to ban stuff across the board while Pence would try to give states the power to decide. Huge huge difference

Trump already said he would appoint justices that could. That's how.

He also said he would build a big beautiful wall and Mexico would pay for it. C'mon.

And Trump isn't.

Trump has promised to appoint far right judges and even gave examples of judges he would appoint to SCOTUS. In fact, its one of the few concrete proposals he has made the entire campaign. If Trump were to win in November its a given the Republicans would also hold on to the House and Senate. Do you honestly think anything less than Scalia clones would be confirmed to SCOTUS?

I honestly think Trump talks out of his ass.

If Trump appoints justices that can overturn Roe v. Wade, then they will overturn Roe v. Wade.

Pence has to say that to keep the religious right following Trump. I don't think that will ever happen. Political promises during the campaign are about as good as...READ MY LIPS...NO NEW TAXES.

I want to disagree with you slightly. There is no doubt in my mind GHWB meant that when he said it. He got backed into a corner by the dems over the budget and essentially broke a campaign promise due to the realities of the time. that's far different than someone saying something they never intend to do at the time they say it

Trump doesn't want Roe v. Wade overturned.

He has talked about prosecuting women seeking abortions before. Trump: "Some Form Of Punishment" For Women if Abortion Becomes Illegal; UPDATE | Video | RealClearPolitics

He has also revealed his list of SCOTUS appointees, all of which would overturn Roe V. Wade given the opportunity.

If Trump is elected we will have the most far right court since the early 30s.

some of the ones he has mentioned I have argued before and I doubt they would reject 44 years of precedent

Yes he is a pathological liar, but you can bet the Republicans in congress will hold him to this one. Remember what happened when they didn't like one of Bush's nominees?

And Trump isn't.

then he shouldn't have picked a fundamentalist

it's like those saying trump isn't anti gay...i don't know what else to call a presidency that picks a VP and SCOTUS list that has been so extremely anti gay

so yes, trump is either fundamentalist, or doesn't give a damn about his country, and only craves power

Overturning a SCOTUS ruling is next to impossible, even for the POTUS. If it could be done so easily it would've been done already.

Abortion is such a trivial issue in the grand scheme of elections. It's an empty subject that politicians talk about in order to rile up the base but in reality they don't plan to do anything about it.

you'd think after 40 years the numbskull voters would get this, but then, they are trumpites for a reason. They'll believe anything they hear

don't worry, dems would never allow any of those after the obstruction since scalia's death

Not going to happen.

The President cannot overturn a Supreme Court decision. And since Roe v Wade was not upheld per any standing federal law at the time but rather was ruled unconstitutional based on a (TX) state law that went too far concerning individual liberty and a woman's right to privacy, the only way Roe v Wade gets overturned is if Congress can pass legislation that makes abortions illegal nation-wide.

This is a pipe dream of which the GOP has been chasing since the 70's like a dog chasing its tail. Keep chasing, GOP...you'll catch up to your foolishness someday (or vise versa).

Too bad Harry Reid changed the senate rules to eliminate judicial filibuster, Trump +51 GOP in senate means those judges are appointed.

That alone is enough to not vote Trump. Fed up with the goverment dictating to its citizens what they can do or put in there body.

That would be the president +50 in the Senate + the VP tiebreaker.
