Islamic State reportedly preparing for end of its so-called caliphate

Oh I know. You said, on January 13, 2016 regarding zika...

Oh? I asked you what you wanted to discuss. One person's case? Or something meatier. You refused to say.

Thanks for finally confessing.

:)

And I told you what I wanted to get across:
So its causing serious birth defects in newborn babies. I thought I'd post this so people are aware.
You went on a long crazy diatribe, trying to sniff out xenophobia, and came up empty.

Even danarhea thought you are being a wing nut.

Good point, but it wasn't an immigrant that brought the virus to Houston. It was a returning tourist. LOL.

You even tried to tie the Duggar family and sexual improprieties in your fervent attack on those darn 'Publicans.

Meanwhile I never said anything about immigration.

So who was full of ulterior motives on that thread?

And I told you what I wanted to get across:

That's not a topic of discussion. It's you telling us that you posted it in a breaking news area as a public service announcement in a debate forum. That sentence should tell you that you should probably discuss the political ramifications, the political impact it would have on science, you know, something related to politics. Not just listen to you state that it happened and we should all be aware it happened.

Even danarhea thought you are being a wing nut.

You're being salty while hiding behind other posters? Lol@Alt-right Putin fan.

Maybe this is why you've been here 10 years, made 37k posts, and are not a mod?

I see new posts every day in the BN MSM dept where the OP didn't follow every exact rule for posting in BN MSM, and you've never once made a stink about it. Why is that? Why were you so biased against my thread, and no one else's? Because of the 'Publican boogie man again Hatuey?

Online structures of power don't bother me as much as they bother the alt-right.

This has nothing to do with other people. Why are you trying to make it sound like I policed your thread? Was this something that worked for you in highschool when you were found to be bland? I asked you which political part of the thread you wanted to discuss. Did you not feel like discussing the event beyond your suggestion that it happened and we should all be careful? Your sensitivity is noted. If I'd known you'd be so frustrated by somebody on the debate forum you posted to asking what you wanted to discuss, I would have let you carry on with that unchallenged news man complex.

I haven't had many problems with mods here, overall they've been pretty fair to me.

You tried to police my thread, my avatar, quoted me out of context many times.
Luckily you have no power.

What does this have to do with asking you what you wanted to discuss?

If you think I'm policing your thread by asking you what you'd like to discuss, you are welcome to report me when I ask you what you'd like to disuss. :)

I'll let you know if I get gigged.

Anyways, what would you like to discuss concerning the OP? :)

You haven't discussed the OP of this thread once. You really want to start now?

I discussed your comment which directly leads to the OP. It seems slightly dishonest in light of your constant praise of Putin. You really shouldn't expect to make statements like that unchallenged.

Sent from a flower watered by the tears of Trump supporters and crazy newb liberals.

Problem is the more they are defeated in conventional combat, the more terrorist attacks they will try to commit abroad because it's their only way of projecting power and essentially gaining cred with other terrorist groups, plus recruiting at this point.

ISIS may be defeated in battle, but they may still succeed in destroying the west.

Their attacks and existence has sent many in Europe and America into a frenzy, turning to the far right for answers and "security".

The rise of the Trump voter and the far right fringes of Europe are rearing their ugly heads, and every attack jumps their popularity, fear is a marvelous thing when it can be harnessed by the fear monger.

Let us hope, not enough people become so afraid they turn to madmen, modern history is filled with such instances.

That will never happen. Even at their height, ISIS numbered 100K at the most. The EU has almost 800 million people, mostly secular too. The sheer numbers alone makes it impossible, even with moronic right wing bigoted leaders.

You ignore that the right wing in Europe depends almost exclusively on fear of Muslims and immigrants to get into power.

Right, because the topic of the OP is "What Does truthatallcost Think About Putin?"

More of Hatuey's flaming factless fabrications for Friday.

Well, if the name of the thread isn't "What does truthatallcost think about Putin", why would truthatallcost tell us what he thinks of Putin? I mean you're telling us you're thankful to him and that's something you thought you'd never say. Yet you regularly praise him for all of his super heroic deeds. The two seem kind of contradictory. It was only a matter of time before you did.

Alliterations are so 1900s.

Why did you put "security" in quotes? Like, there is obviously a very serious issue regarding the security innocent civilians and the answers are obviously not found among that left, as that's what has been driving the bus so far.

After 9/11, Bush used the fear of terrorist attacks to convince congress to give him war powers to attack Iraq and get the Patriot Act and NSA secret wire taps passed. Americans barely batted an eye at the government power grab and having their rights taken away like that. If I recall it was considered "unpatriotic" if you didn't go along with it.

And yet Obama has done everything Bush did and more and still no one bats and eye.

Obama didn't use torture or secret prisons like Bush did. He gets extra points for that, imo.

While its true that democracies tend to elect populist morons, the infrastructure for democracy has been so entrenched that the concept of laws and human rights will continue without interruption.

I wasn't a fan of anything Putin has done up until he stepped in for Obama, and did what needed to be done.

I bet you haven't seen that many straight F's in a row since high school report card days, :lamo

Naw...he just helped create one of the biggest humanitarian crises since the Holocaust in Syria and Libya is not too far behind. But that's no big deal, right? Neither is the extreme levels of extra-judicial drone killings that routinely kills civilians.

The US isn't the world's police. Nor did Obama create the crisis in Syria....Assad did. Yes, Obama made a mistake drawing a red line and then not following through. But Syria's problems pre-date Obama and are largely a result of the French mandate....so why don't you hold France accountable instead of Obama?

So then you are a Putin fan who never thought he'd thank him? Well, good thing you've given up all pretence.

I don't think you understand how 'straight f's' work or what alliteration means.

Because it was Obama who sanctioned Syria, limiting Assad's ability to fight ISIS, and then armed terrorists.

Definitely good news to hear. Although they are kind of headless as an org in many ways and act rather independently... I can see their "caliphate" dreams over the Mid East dying, I can't see their scattered attacks across the globe stopping any time soon.

Islamic State reportedly preparing for end of its so-called caliphate

Islamic State terror leaders are reportedly preparing for the fall of its so-called caliphate after the U.S.-led coalition and Russian-backed forces made significant gains in recent months in Iraq and Syria.

The Washington Post reported Tuesday that the terror group’s leaders in Syria are bracing for its strongholds to fall, but vow to continue its wave of terror attacks abroad. U.S. counterterrorism experts believe the recent large-scale attacks in Istanbul and Baghdad are a sign that its reign in the Middle East is dwindling.

Officials in the terror group issued a grim statement to its fighters that soon all could be lost. The Post reported that an editorial in ISIS’ weekly Arabic newsletter acknowledged that its territory could be lost just two years have rejoicing in the start of its Islamic State across the Middle East.

Thanks, Obama!

Seriously though, I think he deserves some credit here. He said it would take some time to degrade and ultimately destroy this terror group. He pushed other nations from Iraq, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia and even Russia to get involved and commit their own troops to the fight against ISIS and they have. As a result, ISIS proper has been backed into a corner and they only way they have to fight back now is to go rouge.

These solo terrorist cells or independents like the truck drive attack in Nice, France pose serious threats because they are so spontaneous, but what the OP article illustrates is that if the world gets involved in this fight against global terror, it can be defeated. So...

Thanks, Obama! :2wave:

That mindset is not just limited to the far right - "You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before." - Rahm Emanuel

I've never had a problem with that. After all, isn't that what people do as they go about improving how they do business? You take a bad situation or a failure and turn it on its ear, learn from your mistakes and do things better than you did before. It's kinda how things get done. For every mistake made, you learn from it and find ways to do things better. Never had a problem with what Rahm Emanuel said because like it or not it makes perfect sense. Pundits were just made because it made the Obama Administration sound more like opportunist than being proactive or true problem solvers. From there, the impression has long been that the Administration creates crisis just to make themselves look good. A foolish mentality, BTW because any 1 of 1,000 things could go wrong while you try to play the hero of a manufactured crisis.

Does this mean that Assad is essentially propped back up? I tend to think so, and if so, where do we as the US go from here? Do we lay off Assad as a countermeasure to try and help keep ISIS down?
