Donald Trump’s Campaign Signals He Will Pick Mike Pence as Running Mate

Pence is a terrible pick for a person who already has trouble attracting moderates and independents on social issues.

I disagree. I'm a social moderate and I really like Pence. I still won't vote for Trump but an alliance with Pence makes him more attractive.

Pence isn't a 'social moderate'. He's a social extremist who doesn't believe gays should have any of the rights as minorities. To like him is to dismiss his social extremism for the sake of something else.

So their token colored person has served their purpose then.

Can't call him a token if the majority picked him. A token would be someone who also ran but didn't get very far, not the person who actually became the leader.

So come on. Admit that you just screwed up instead of doubling down it. Or don't, because it is actually quite funny.

I never said Pence was a social moderate. Did I?

Nope, you did say you were, though, and that Pence was an attractive candidate. Connect the dots, and someone can say you claimed that Pence was, even though you never said it. LOL.

Can you name a female politician you can listen to for an entire debate? If Warren's voice wears you down that fast I think you might be the problem, not them. Now Palin I understand, but I find it more amusing than annoying.

In a debate between Palin and Warren, constantly listening to both of them, that'd be a problem. Never a break.

I can't off hand name one that I could listen to for a long time. I'll have to be more observant and see whom I might be able to.

I agree that Newt would be a more pragmatic choice... I don't know if Trump's ego would have enough spare room to let Newt in, however.

From my view, Trump's had a long history / experience of picking the 'right' people for the 'right' jobs, it's what an executive does.

Here is Mike Pence on ABC News This Week last year. He could not answer a simple yes or no question, and was totally destroyed by George SteppinInALotOfIt (NOTE: I like that name much better. LOL). The campaign trail is going to be much tougher.

I like your name for George - a Clinton political hack and shill passing himself off as a journalist of some sort

By token I meant a failed experiment.

Usually the token is the guy that was hired, not all who applied for the job.

With this VP pick, Trump has reaffirmed that the GOP stands for white male hegemony.

Do you ever not obsess over race. You probably should get some help for that.

Picking Pence proves that the far right social conservatives still have way too much power in the GOP. I understand why Trump did it, because the GOP still, in the 21st century, insists on kissing the asses of the backwards social conservatives in their party. So it will sit well with that part of the GOP, but it ain't going to sit well with the moderates and the demographics Trump will need to win in November.

Exactly, Trump had an opportunity to widen the republican base by not focusing on polarizing social issues like gay rights. Instead, he chose one of the most socially polarizing politicians in recent memory and the base will continue to die out because of it. When the majority of Americans are for gay rights and are likely pro choice why the hell would you lock them out of the party?
