Texas mom, a vocal gun rights advocate, killed by cops after killing her girls [W:51]

Re: Texas mom, a vocal gun rights advocate, killed by cops after killing her girls [W

I don't know that for sure. But my main point is, if someone really wants to kill someone, they will find a way/method to do it, regardless of what laws you try to implement.

If they can't get a gun, they'll use a knife. If they can't get knife, they'll use a wrench, etc. etc. etc.

We need to ban opposable thumbs.

That may be one possible way to ensure that those that need help get it before they do something horrible to themselves or others.

Good luck with that!

Thanks. I have lots of experience with mental illness, as Huntington's Chorea has taken my father and now is killing three of my siblings. Their mental illnesses are each unique. One of my sisters attempted suicide in numerous ways in including a butcher knife to the throat and trying to climb out of a car on a freeway.

So yeah, she may well have been delusional. I remember my sister's delusions were very real to her.

Sorry to hear about your family problems, TC. Very sad.

Absolutely 1000% correct. She could have poisoned them. She could have drugged them and set the house on fire. She could have stabbed them. She could have dropped a blow dryer in the bathtub while one was in it. It's naïve at best, ignorant at worst, to assume that any laws could have prevented this particular situation.

Can't see any of those working in the middle of an angry row. Shooting people though.....

Yes, because nobody was ever poisoned or stabbed or drugged and burned to death in this country. Except all of the people who were.

Nobody ever did it during a blazing family row like this mentally ill gun advocate did!

Yes, they did. Women don't stab and poison their children for ****s and giggles.

Here's a recent happy Christmas tale.

According to the Casa Grande, Ariz., Police Department, Connie Villa, 35, allegedly attempted to kill all of four her children and her ex-husband Adam Villa on Dec. 25.

She has been charged with first-degree murder for the death of her daughter, 13-year-old Aniarael Macias, who was found dead in the family apartment bathroom.

Police said they believe that Villa called her ex-husband to come over on Christmas Day so that she could kill him. After he arrived, she allegedly stabbed him repeatedly in the torso, police said. Adam Villa was able to escape and call the police as he drove himself to the hospital.

When police arrived at Villa's apartment, they forced open the door and found her holding a knife to her chest with apparent self-inflicted stab wounds on her torso.

Villa's three younger children, ages 3, 5, and 8, were also found without any stab wounds. Macias' body was found in the bathroom, but she had no visible injuries, Casa Grande Police Department spokesman Thomas Anderson said.

After the younger children were taken to the hospital, trace amounts of opiates were found in their system. Police say they suspect Villa was trying to poison her children.

So you want to do nothing, Noted.

Nope, never said that. Just telling you that your idea is completely and absolutely preposterous. Think about it for a sec, m'kay? You're telling me the it makes more sense to have people commit themselves by either paying for medication and treatments through insurance or through some medicare program. All to weed out kooks who could use a hand gun to commit some bad ****. Think that is easier than some gun legislation?

First off I do not expect people that have issues to turn themselves in, even you cannot believe that is logical. But there are shooters like the kid in Cal that was even visited by the cops and his parents were working on trying to get him back on his meds or institutionalized that are not dealt with by the System before they think it is an excellent idea to drive around town shooting people at random.
Pssst, it is not about Easy, it is about rights, you do not punish everyone else and remove their Rights laid down by the Founders because you do not want to do the work required to deal with the root cause of so many of the mass shootings. Sorry but we will Never see eye to eye on this, you want to take the easy way which will in reality have little to no affect on these awful events and I want to dal with the cause they take place and do what we actually can to reduce such events from happening, there is little middle ground there.
