ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi 'killed in US-led air strikes in Syria'

The Islamic State leader was reported to be injured in Raqqa, Syria, last week but officials could not confirm if he was fatally wounded

Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed following US-led air strikes in Syria, according to reports.
A statement from a news agency linked to the terrorist organisation said: "Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed by coalition air strikes on Raqqa on the fifth day of Ramadan."
Another source claimed he died in Mosul, Iraq - another ISIS-held stronghold.

In a statement from Iraqi security forces, officers said: "Iraqi aircraft hit Baghdadi's convoy as it was moving towards Karabla to attend a meeting of the Daesh [ISIS]terrorist leaders."
The news comes after an Iraqi TV channel claimed last week that al-Baghdadi, who is believed to be in besieged ISIS 'capital' Raqqa, was hurt by a bomb released from a US-led coalition aircraft.

If true, it's about time.

Was that the guy that claimed to be the caliph? That would be great if it was.

Aloha Snackbar! :monkeyarm

Took a while to get Bin Laden too.

If true, this is good news. I will reserve my "way to go Obama," praise until after I'm convinced the dude's dead. Call me skeptic.

But you gotta admit, that Obama is a terrorist killin' mo'-fo'. (Well, maybe you ain't gotta admit it, but it's true. ) And he does it with minimum American blood spilled. Gotta love that part. (Well, maybe you ain't gotta love that part if you prefer a good war with lot's of boots on the ground and American lives and limbs taken. :( )

Wow, it's a lot easier to hit our suspects when we aren't telling convoys ahead of time that we'll be bombing them. JFC, I'm glad he's dead but Obama's military is completely incompetent. He should have been killed a long time ago.

I suggest you write a stern and tersely worded letter to the White House in protest.

There doesn't seem to be any good confirmation of this.

No, so far there isn't. And this man was killed more than one time in the past already.
It'll take probably a week or two before we can know for sure.

...and someone else will take his place and continue the fight. What is needed isn't a handful of surgical strikes on a few high profile leaders, it's a focused effort to put in the ground every single person who tells anyone else what to do. It's making being a leader at any level a short-term job with a really bad retirement plan.

What?? Bush couldn't even kill bin laden. He had 8 years to do it. Obama killed him in 2 years.

good riddance, the man deserved to be bombed and die. He has caused so much suffering that his death is a good thing.

Given the source and the way this broke, color me extremely suspicious to the point of dismissive. This isn't the first time the Iraqi's have claimed Baghdadi is dead.

It is, in fact, not true. What he has done is increase the number of drone missions while reducing the aperture on what terrorists we are actually allowed to kill. Because it's drones it gets more attention, but the actual CT community is incredibly restrained under this POTUS.

Yeah. If there is something that fills the description of "not a lot of blood spilled", it's Syria, Iraq, and Libya.

It's a matter of time and missiles, while IS are being pushed back there is a good chance the guy and any replacements will die a swift and fiery death.

Well... actually it took our Military and Intelligence assets 10 years to do it..... if you want to look at it objectively.

No. It took a president who was willing to violate Pakistani sovereignty. Obama was willing to. Bush is a ***** and was not.

You know I'd like to believe the asshole is dead, but even if he isn't I smile at night knowing that none of those bastards can take waking up to see the next day for granted. Every time they're out somewhere and see a shadow, it's in the back of their minds that Mr. Drone may be paying them a visit. I'll bet every noise from above has them crapping in their robes or whatever the hell they wear. And this pleases me greatly.

It should be happening on an almost daily basis. We should be hearing about ISIS leaders at every level being killed on an almost daily basis. What we're getting is 2-3 high profile people a year, when we should be seeing 4-5 a week at every level of authority. We need to make giving orders within ISIS a VERY short-term job with a bad retirement plan.

Under Pres. Bush we took HUNDREDS of AQ leaders out of the equation, crippled them financially, brought recruitment to a near stop and got local leaders working with us, instead of against us. Pres. Obama has killed a few high profile people, allowed finances to flow, seen recruitment sky-rocket and have done almost nothing to gain support from local leaders. But those are facts and not hyperbole, so I don't expect them to have any influence on your little fantasy world...

I can't believe this is true because Obama has yet to use his most effective weapon, the term "radical Islam." Until that phrase is uttered from his lips, no death to terrorists can occur.

LOL

I see what you did there.

the fact is that bush was a ***** that was scared to go to pakistan to kill obl. Obama was willing to kill obl. Those are facts. Since facts don't fit you agenda you have to make things up.

Good hit but I'm sure there is someone lined up to fill his shoes.

Yep, then another one and another one.......Hopefully we can keep it up until they run out of replacements.
