Bernie Sanders Agrees to Debate Donald Trump

Ah... I see. You aren't getting your way so democracy sucks eh?

Sorry to burst your bubble, Rob- but democracy has spoken. The Dems dont want Bernie. The numbers prove it.

It's still speaking. It's about delegates and more than just gathering the most delegates but also about gathering a lot of delegates to push the party platform. And no, I'm not in here for "free stuff" just because I'm a bernie fan.

Throughout the democratic primaries, my disdain for Bernie's base didn't prevent me from having deep respect for Bernie himself, but ever since he aligned himself with Cenk Uygur and TYT, I can no longer take him seriously.

He aligned himself with Cenk Uygur about as much as he aligned himself with Killer Mike. Did you think that Bernie Sanders was going to ignore the media wherein young voters exchange political messages?

Obviously there's a great deal more variability when it comes to talk shows and entertainers. I do not see this as high risk political activity, because Bernie Sanders has been advocating consistently for the same things over the course of his career. Who he interviews with shouldn't detract significantly from the campaign, if the message is clear. I wouldn't expect Bernie Sanders to nominate Cenk Uygur for any position in government - they are in two separate industries.

I already know what will happen...Sanders will win the debate but Trump will gain more votes.

Sanders is the better man (though many of his ideas are way too extreme for my taste) and Trump is a glorified, very talented, used car salesman.

Who I would really love to see debate Trump (or Clinton) is Gary Johnson.

One on one, one moderator, few rules for two hours...Johnson would (IMO) thoroughly beat Clinton and destroy Trump.

Trump chickened out. The debate is off. However... if things keep going the way they are Gary might make it into the general debates. They keep moving the goal posts for third party candidates to get in the debates but last time the threshold was 15% in the polls. And looky where he is at right now without even campaigning much...

To be fair, I was surprised that he even agreed to debate Sanders in the first place. But a pretty cowardly thing to agree to it and then back out. What a weirdo Trump is.

Yes, that Gary Johnson polling number is very interesting. I would LOVE to see him in full debates against Clinton-Trump. I guarantee you if he does that his numbers would rise much higher. He has what Sanders also has..he seems 'normal' and with common sense (though again, Sanders is generally too socialist for my taste....but he seems a FAR superior human being to Clinton-Trump).

I still think Johnson has no real chance...but with the utter uselessness of Clinton-Trump...this is his best chance yet at putting Libertarians on the political map.And better still, a Gary Johnson-type Libertarian Party - which seems a little less extreme and a little more realistic.
I like the Libertarian freedom angle...VERY much. But they are too anti-welfare for me. The government has to look after those who cannot look after themselves...Libertarians seem totally against all forms of welfare. That is just not remotely realistic in 2016. At least Johnson seems remotely open to some forms of welfare.
Mention welfare and some die hard Libertarians start to convulse.

I would disagree with you on that. The numbers prove that money buys votes.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of money. Really, all of them?

What about the ones who were struck from the list of registered dems. Were they bribed, too?

Did I even imply they were bribed? No, look at my post again. If you have lots of donors (which Hillary does), then you can spread your message easier by holding rallies, ads, etc. Just how there was a lot of infighting in the Republican Party, there is a lot of infighting in the Democratic Party.
