Trump, Ryan say they are ‘totally committed’ to uniting their party

To his credit, Ryan's beliefs are in another hemisphere from Trump's beliefs. I can't see any reason why Ryan should compromise his beliefs because a Democrat is about to be given the Republican nomination.

I'm going to laugh my head off when Trumpster starts taking money from the "establishment" and the "elite".

It actually will help Ryan when the liberals question in 2020 about his hard-line conservative values. "See? I worked well with Trump. I can work well with Democrats in Congress."

But didn't trump establish himself as the number one choice amongst his followers by repeatedly saying that he would not be bought by anyone and did not actively seek out funds from the party establishment?

Like closing GITMO on day 1?

Maybe my anti-Trumpness is clouding my judgment, but this is an instance where I would like to see someone like Ryan take a stand and say, "No, this guy (Trump) is a friggen catastrophe in the making. I'm not going to endorse him."

The thing is Ryan doesn't have to endorse him in order to play nice with him. I think the Republicans are mastering Trump's very simple game. Trump is like the mafia but you can easily string them along by saying that you will do this eventually even if you never do.

The difference is, I have my suspicions and many doubts while you seem to have misplaced trust for reasons you haven't shared.

I already addressed the trust thing.

But you know the pressure will be on him to endorse.

All for the good of the party, of course... country be damned, apparently.

Republicans are very very good at falling into line and playing Follow The Leader. The latest polls showing Trump being competitive only makes it easier for the right wing ideologues to swallow their pride and go back on their previous statements about Trump and get behind him hoping for power.

i don't like Paul Ryan, and i definitely don't want him to be the next Republican president, as he wants to ruin Medicare by privatizing it. however, as i said in another thread, endorsing Trump would be a bad move for him, and stumping for him on the campaign trail could be a disastrous one. do not pick up the pulled grenade.

If you notice, Trump always leaves the door open for anything, either pre-emptively or via plausible deniability afterward. Hence, his claims of being different from all the rest is just a bunch of crap.
That's not true. Many of his stances are just flat out flip flops. However when it comes to getting donations in the general, Trump hasn't flip flopped. It's like when micheal jordan said there's a 99% chance he's never coming back to basketball after he joined a baseball team. We all remember how that worked.

He has??? I for one would like to know which veterans were helped by his measly $6 Million.

(CNN)Donald Trump drew much fanfare when he skipped a Republican debate in January to host a rally that he has said raised millions of dollars for veterans, but one question has lingered since the event: Where's the money?

The Trump campaign said the event raised $6 million for different veterans groups, with Trump himself contributing $1 million, but details released by the campaign Thursday show only about half of that money has been dispersed so far.
