For example, the assembly currently includes special liaison positions for minority students, international students, LGBTQ students, female students and first-generation college students. But it was determined that more change was needed to address “the systemic exclusion” of minority voices.

According to a report in the Cornell Daily Sun, some students complained that the “minority” liaison position was too broad; perhaps each racial minority group should have its own special representative. That suggestion raised questions about who should be allowed to vote for these race-specific positions, and the answer, according to some students, was to install a race-specific voting system.

More liberal policy ideas that tell minorities "you're just not created equal, so let us help you feel equal."

This way, blacks can votes for blacks, whites can vote for whites, gays can vote for gays, etc.

Utopia.

It will take all of 10 seconds for someone to start abusing this.

yep, another Elizabeth Warren will come along claiming they are native American like she did at Harvard or black like Rachel Dolezal claimed she was at eastern Washington univ and managed to become NAACP president in Spokane.

Since race is a purely cultural concept every single student could claim to be their own race.

50 years ago, black paragons tried to make society treat all people the same. Now, minorities do their best to balkanize America into warring little ethnic groups. Visiting Cornell while there for a varsity match as a college athlete, two of my former HS classmates showed me around what may be the most beautiful college campus in the USA. at one point I saw a dozen or so black students marching single file with a "leader" barking orders at them. Yale did not have any ROTC programs nor much of an active "Greek system" and I asked my friends if that was an ROTC group and they both said no-its a black fraternity. so I asked-do you have "white fraternities" and both men- (members of fraternities) said NO-that would be banned. One was in DKE the other I cannot recall and both noted they had black and Asian members but the black fraternities have no white members

self-segragation at work

and both in college and later when I attended Law and graduate school, there would be tables in the various dining rooms where blacks would only sit with other blacks. now lots of blacks didn't do this but there were enough of them that did that I can clearly remember it

'Some students' said the minority liason position should be specific to the minority represented. That's not quite the same as what's implied by the headline, is it.
Just the latest example of conservatives lying to provoke outrage.

Oh look, more racist liberals. There's a surprise.

Ugh. Why the **** does this PC **** keep on happening?

What the hell happened to Colleges? They used to be bastions of freedom, debate, discussion and transfers of different ideas, but now all they seem to do is cater to people's sensibilities in hopes that they won't get offended. It's stupid and moronic and I hate it.

FWIW, I don't think those fraternities officially excluded whites any more than the (99% or so white) fraternities where I went to school had policies against admitting blacks, but that's how both ended up with only rare exceptions.

Here's an article discussing it, and I know for a fact that at least at UVa in the 1980s the two black fraternities represented in my dorm didn't have a rule against whites joining - we talked about it with my next door neighbors who each joined a different "black" fraternity.

Sure, but you have to acknowledge that "black" fraternities arose because for decades blacks were prohibited from even going to school with whites, and then if not by rule then by custom effectively prohibited from joining 'white' fraternities.

No all white tables at lunch? Lol... of course there were. But that's different I guess.
