Every great nation in world history has an ugly past. They were built on the back of somebody's suffrage.

For some reason, the planet wants to believe America is alone in that regard.

It's because no nation has ever achieved what this one has. Not even remotely close.

It appears From this thread that if you want cons to say something nice about a Democrat, put a black woman on money. Tubman probably would have voted Republican if she ever got a chance.

What's weird is that I used to go visit my great grandmother when I was a little one. Apparently she was five when Harriet Tubman died. Our history is so young.

There were 292 shooting victims in January 2016, compared to the first month of 2015, when there were 136. That's more than double. There were 51 murders in the first month of 2016, compared to 29 in January 2015. That's a 75 percent increase.

Since it was obvious they just had to put a black civil rights leader on the $20, I'd say they should go with MLK. Less "myth" surrounding what he did than Harriet Tubman.

If they wanted to put Harriet on one, put her of the "other" bill that MLK was supposedly going to be put on.

One of the most frequently used bills by average Americans is the $20. So now we are going to have wallets full of Tubmans' and we really can't prove most of what we think we know about her.



Part of me is only half serious when I wonder if they wanted to put Tubman on a well used bill as a subtle way to spread more white guilt by ensuring that white people who are out spending all this money they get.... you know... from their "privilege", have to look at a symbol of the old days of slavery oppression while they enjoy themselves some "privilege".

Chris Rock once said that no matter where you go MLK Road/Blvd/Etc is one of the most violent places in that city.

I wonder if there is any truth to that.....

I think that's a pretty accurate statement. And like all good appeasement acts it makes the subjects beam at all the love and goodness and 'change'. 8 years of the Obama admin, the black community continues to lead in damn near every misery indicator, as a collective they are the only group to actually do WORSE during his presidency...but squeeeeee! Harriet Tubman on the 20 dolla bill, yo!
