Utah Gov. Gary Herbert to sign resolution calling porn a 'health hazard'

True, but problems associated with watching excessive amounts of porn is only part of the problem.

1. what amount constitutes 'excessive'
and
2 what defines the porn 'problem'

Porn does not need to be sold at stores.

that is why the Internet was created, for personal viewing, at home, with your dog watching....

It's a damned good thing animals can't speak. Bunch of ****ing liars they are.

I'll just toss the resolution into the dust bin of I don't care what you thinks. I do support the legislation requiring IT professionals to report findings of child pornogtaphy to the authorities though.

Porn has been associated with psychological issues, sexual dysfunction, and social isolation.

Just sayin'.

I would like to see a source on that and how severe these "problems" are.

In any event, it's a free society and the government has no business in the bedrooms of the nation. Since time began, man has tried and failed to legislate morality.

Further, I do believe the US has some far greater problems the good governor of Utah might want to give consideration.

Seems they have more of a problem with break away sects and underage marriage, really child sexual abuse when it comes down to it.

Then there are the polygamists.

I was in Utah a few years ago, driving to the east. I heard a talk show going on and on how it was a mistake to take polygamy out of the religion. There is still string support for it.

BC just jailed a Mormon leader here in BC who had 19 wives, some he married at 13.

Why do people keep saying legislating morality fails? What in the hell do people think laws are? What do they even think rights are? WTF is this ****?

Do kids drink under age?

DO people smoke pot?

Do people do drugs?

Do people get drunk and drive?

Take any moral topic and show me where the law had any impact. laws only impact when you can enforce them. The local city council outlawed smoking, and now employ people to do nothing accept pick up cigarette butts. Laws are words

Of course laws are words that only have impact when you can enforce them. What is even the point of bringing that up? Do you think that somehow someone here wasn't aware that laws consist of words? Ok guys, raise your hand if you just learned that laws consist of words. Anyone? Oh look, no one raised their hand. Go figure.

All law is based on moral topics from murder laws to stupid laws banning blowjobs. Are some laws more effective than others? Well sure, but that doesn't change the fact that all law is based on morality. Saying law based on morality fails is like saying law fails.

then give us the benefit of your personal porn research

what about it is found to be harmful?

Porn has been shown to cause repetitive stress injury among Mormons

Porn is the primary driver for Oculus Rift. 20 percent of the population might just disappear when they get their hands on that thing, pardon the pun.

It's also said to be the reason marriage and children in Japan are on a steep decline. Highly technical country, but increasingly socially inept.

It's also given young boys a destructive view of what sex and women are about. Girls are expected to perform like porn stars their first time.

It's funny watching "conservatives" in here pushing these kinds of morality garbage laws on people then spend the rest of their time bitching about "the Nanny State" and preaching to us about "personal responsibility."

Could be....but Utah ranks right up there!

Yeah this poll says it's number one.

Pornhub says otherwise in this poll.

Utah is rather weak according to this poll.

Pornhub reveals, state by state, its most popular search terms among U.S. users - GeekWire

Funny stuff.

The men in secret underwear strike again....

Hell, they probably download more than most states...

Forbidden fruit. It's the hypocrisy of religion.

I used to work in downtown Mesa. Its messed up.

All major religions believe some whacky crap. The biggest issues I have with the Mormon church is it's secrecy and how it seems to ostracize people and families. Jehova's do this to an extreme. It's really despicable behavior.
