Russia jets make 'simulated attack' on US warship in 'aggressive' Baltic incident

Do many excuses and delusional thinking, at least you admit we are back in a cold war.
Pssst, I did Join the United States Army and served my Nation in Combat, me thinks you did nothing of te sort, Buckaroo.

Seeing as I'm 16, they won't take me. I tried.

But yeah---as Sun Tzu said, if you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will suffer defeat in every battle.

In reading the posting in here from the usual suspects, the only thing that comes to mind is that much like Obama is perceived as a "little bitch" on the world stage, libs want America to be seen as such too...Obama is weak, and with him as CIC so is America.

Next year you can, with your parents permission.

I know the Russians very well, been there, have you?

Those jets were a good 300-400 feet away from the ship. Trust me.........I have seen hundreds of fly by's and buzzes.

This photo shows the plane well within 300 feet:

If we were to shoot one down, they might stop doing it.

The thing is it isn't really a "simulated attack".

Russians are known for their stand off anti shipping missiles.

A simulated attack would likely be trying to close undetected to a lauch point no where near the ships.

Yeah, they weren't carrying missiles and they didn't try to get missile lock but it was still highly provocative.

International waters is, well, international waters.

Yes I said that, BUT being so close to a major Russian military base is frankly idiotic and asking for trouble. The US has accused China, Russia and others of "getting too close" to its waters and yet when the US does it is "oh but it is international waters".. hypocrisy at it best.

But yes flying that close is just as idiotic by the Russians, but then again... the US boat should not have been so close to a major Russian naval base. What do you think the US reaction would be if a Russian naval **** sat 70 nautical miles of Norfolk.... Still international waters!

It was schoolboy dickwaving and nothing to freak out about.

They stopped flying over Turkey, me thinks Russians only understand strength.

Umm, the Russians have come even closer than 70 miles and shadow American ships on a regular basis, they will push it as far as we will allow them to.

It's the small dog that yaps and growls and nips, trying to convince the world he is big.

The big dog stays silent and continues his nap, because he can tear the small dog to pieces at any time.

Russia is not a small dog and it is growing under Putin's feeding program. Never forget that a small dog can pack a big bite, to be too over confident can lead to disaster for all involved.

Ok, so let's drop the analogy and tell me what disaster you envision

We get into an all out war with Russia, the Chinese could very well jump in (not on our side), but if Russia were to start loosing badly the mushroom clouds could very well form over much of the northern hemisphere. Did you forget Russians has nukes? Did you forget that Putin is a KGB agent? Know who you are dealing with.

Jeez people...this was nothing.

The U.S. ship was (according to the report) 70 miles off of the coast of Kaliningrad, a Russian province.

If a Russian ship was 70 miles of the coast of Puerto Rico, I would think the American masses would be pissed off at the U.S. military if it didn't buzz the Russian ship.

If the crew of the U.S. ship in this report were surprised in the slightest by the Russian move, they need a LOT better Intel, IMO.

Once again...this was nothing.

And what does Russia stand to gain from this?

I sometimes worry if someday China, Russia, and Iran may just say "I wonder what the world would be like without the USA? Let's find out. We will take some hits, but they will be gone."

Let's see. On the other side you have all of NATO, France and Britain with nukes, the US with nukes, India with nukes all of whom would be threatened by such a move.
Even without Russia, I'd say it would be the end of civilization as we know it

And what does Russia stand to gain from this?

An all out war, nothing. But if other allow Putin to push his agenda he will get what he wants and that is the USSR back along with all or most of the Warsaw Pact countries, he is ambitious and willing to fight limited wars to achieve his goals.

And, what, he's just too dumb to realize his actions will escalate to the end of civilization? What action do you believe will be the tipping point?

Is it? You know this how?

Because modern fighter jets don't attack modern destroyers by closing to 300 feet and flying parallel to it.
