[RIP]Country star Merle Haggard dies at 79 on his birthday

Sure beat the hell out of the modern country crap where they all sound alike.

Truth!!

He came to a military post in Bad Tolz Germany I think when I was a military dependent. Got his autograph I think. Gosh that was back in the late 6o's!

That is awesome. I got to meet Johnny Cash (my favourite) after a concert I attended, got his autograph and my picture taken with him. I think I walked on air for the next month!

RIP MR. Haggard

One of my favorites

Two of my favorites of Merle.
Unlike most musicians, Merle's voice sounded better as he aged.

Will miss the guy.

never really listened to him but I know my favorite Guitarist-Jerry Garcia-was a big fan and the GD did a great cover of one of Merle's Songs: they played it close to 300 times in concerts.

TD, surely you're familiar with Townes Van Zant's song/poem "Pancho and Lefty"?
