Iceland PM resigns amid Panama Papers scandal, official says

Iceland should be commended because they, unlike the United States, actually prosecuted high ranking members of the financial industry following the near economic collapse that they caused and from which they profited quite handsomely.

I read many articles about the Iceland fiasco, I am surprised this PM had the gonads to do stuff like this all over again.

This will probably make the Icelandic people even more angry. That the primeminister claims he just taken a break and didn't resign.

In a press release sent to international media outlets the spokesman of Iceland’s Prime Minister claims the PM did NOT resign yesterday. Instead the Prime Minister only asked the Party’s vice chairman to “take over the office of Prime Minister for an unspecified amount of time.” Political observers have described this latest course of events as “farcical” and a game of semantics. Richard Milne, Financial Times' Nordic correspondant was first to publish the full text of the press release.

What's interesting about him is, his election is coming up. He's going to have to kill a lot of people this time to hold his seat rather than just the few that he has so far.

He literally just released a quote saying that his name does not appear once in the papers. However, his inner circle is implicated quite a bit. Always interesting.
