A security guard who worked at a Belgian nuclear plant was murdered and had his security pass stolen, just two days after the Brussels terror attacks.

Didier Prospero was shot several times in the bathroom of his home in the Charleroi region of Belgium.

The unidentified killers shot Prospero, who worked for G4S security at the Tihange Nuclear power plant in the east of the country.

We can only hope Belgians are better at securing their nuclear facilities, than they are at investigating & monitoring terrorist rings.

Forewarned and all that....
But there are plenty of nuclear plants around Europe. One along the German boarders would do most political and probably economic damage.

Hope eternal and all that? Nuclear plants are relatively soft targets all around Europe.

Well, when there's something that one either "doesn't know" or "can't affect", hope is all that's available!

Belgian authorities are checking all white clean shaven men so as to not be accused of being "Islamophobes".

Message from on high: "All will be well, but keep duct tape for your windows and doors, just in case."

We will treat all people equally. We would prefer to be destroyed rather than be labeled Islamophobes!

Then let's hope, I guess.

I would hope that they're stepping up security posture and have canceled the stolen badge by the time the media knew about it.

They may have been soft targets three days ago, by now I'll bet they have extra guards on shift, higher alertness levels, issued out weapons if they're not already routinely armed, etc.

As the man said, we can hope.

Meanwhile the Belgians begin reconsidering charges against Geert Wilder in front of the EU Human Rights commission because he said mean things about Muslims. Belgian police have stated that they don't have enough manpower to investigate this crime because they're too many officers screening the internet for hate speech.

The company who runs the nuclear plants in Belgium, Electrabel, denies that this security guard worked for the nuclear plants in Belgium. He worked for the national institute of radio elements in Fleurus.

It is a medical laboratory in which medical radio isotopes are being processed. At the end of 2008 there was a major nuclear incident (INES 3 classification) when radioactive iodine was leaked. In March 2006 there was another nuclear incident when someone was exposed to a source of Kobalt-60 (classified as a INES 4 incident)

So it is not like he has a security guard clearance for a nuclear plant just for a medical nuclear lab. Something that also is a serious issue but nobody knows if this security pass just gives him access to the building or gives him access to the nuclear material.

I doubt it. These folks just don't instill confidence.

Yep.

Reminds of some women I've talked to over the years, about gun ownership and training. They tell me that they want nothing to do with firearms and couldn't use one even to save their child from harm. That kind of idiocy, mirrors that of Belgians regarding muslims! :cuckoo:

Hope is a good thing for the psyche, but superior intelligence and firepower ...........rules.

Thanks Peter. At any rate, this is not a good thing. And I bet the security guard wasn't armed at home and couldn't defend himself.

That's Utopians for ya! About as dumb as a Demo, voting for Hillary or Sanders.

Wow!

I doubt they are plane proof?

Likely aren't.

You think they didn't torture him to extract critical intel pertinent to their next terror plot?

Of course he did not have a gun, only police and army have weapons (normally).

most americans don't routinely carry loaded firearms at home, so I don't think blaming belgian gun laws is a good argument.

Belgium isn't as restrictive as most European countries, the belgians are home to FN, and they can legally own some pretty cool ****.

Please provide a source for this because I have never heard of this.

This has always been one of my major objections to nuclear power. There is no way to make the plants or material completely secure.

You think they didn't torture him to extract critical intel pertinent to their next terror plot?

Very possible.

Of course he did not have a gun, only police and army have weapons (normally).

That was a little tongue and cheek. I'm sure happy to live in a free country, where one can own a variety of firearms w/o the government know squat.

Millions of Americans routinely keep loaded firearms in their homes and business....in places that are easy to access, they don't have to be on their person. I don't keep one on me, but there are at least 3 hidden in plain sight and easy reach.
When I go out anywhere, there is one with me at all times. And every time I travel to the perceived Utopia that is Seattle, I make sure to have more than one.

This has always been one of my major objections to nuclear power. There is no way to make the plants or material completely secure.

And yet, except for Hydro, it is the cleanest and most logical source of power. Wind and solar are clean, but not logical on a mass scale.

To think that would ever happen, is a pipe dream for now.
