Weird guy. Kinda sad to see him go though. I thought he'd have made one helluva redemption story.

Former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford dies

Former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has died, according to his chief of staff, Dan Jacobs.

Ford, who had been battling an aggressive form of cancer, served for a decade as a city councilor before being elected mayor in 2010.

The 46-year-old Ford gained international notoriety after a video surfaced in May 2013 that apparently showed him using crack cocaine.

He certainly did not rank high in my politician of the minute elections (not even registering on the politician election of the week/month/year/decade/century) but I am sorry for his loved ones that they lost him so early in life. May he rest in peace.

I'm a little surprised how young he was. He looked much older. Of course I've seen 50 year olds in my line of work who look 70 or 80. Almost always a result of alcohol or drug abuse.
