A Bronx middle-school teacher rattled her students — including one who was near tears — by showing an ISIS video of a terrorist beheading a journalist, documents show.

South Bronx Academy for Applied Media veteran Alexiss Nazario faced termination, but was let off with a $300 fine last summer after acknowledging she made a mistake by not previewing the clip or getting the principal’s permission.

Investigators spoke to three eighth-graders who were freaked out by the macabre clip, which showed a masked man holding a knife to the neck of a kneeling *victim clad in orange.

A bit much for middle school, probably best to save that for at least high school.

They should of told them if they wanted to watch it or not. I say let them see it.

Well that was not very bright, the teacher should be up for termination. The fine as punishment alone is absurd.

There's a difference between 'let them see it' and 'make them watch it'.

I'm disgusted - both by the teacher's astounding stupidity (and I find it hard to imagine she didn't know) - but also by this sense that it's somehow wrong for kids to react to such a grotesque thing as cutting off someone's head with shock and fear.

Of course it was terrifying - traumatizing for some, I'm sure.

And she should be fired quicker than ****. The headline should be reading 'teacher fired after she showed violent beheading video to students'.

And there should be no 'let them watch it' or 'let them opt out' viewpoint- this type of heinous murder should never be shown on school grounds to kids -- PERIOD.

You couldn't justify showing that in a college classroom, much less to minors.

Lie #1:
Nazario initially tried to blame the kids by telling investigators one of them had searched for the video on a computer attached to an overhead screen, during a lesson about Iraq, terrorism and ISIS.

Lie #2:
The technology teacher said the students started “shouting out” that they wanted to watch the video, but acknowledged she was responsible for what happened.

Lie #3:
“I was scrolling looking for a specific video. I clicked on the wrong thing. It was a mistake. It was an error,” she said. “I freaked out. I had no idea that was playing.”

Final rationalization (lame excuse):
She couldn’t explain why she thought her 13- and 14-year-old students could handle the video, but one recalled her saying, “This is what’s going on in the real world.”

Bitch needs a psych eval.

This picture was in my high school textbook, I'm not sure the ISIS video is out of that realm.

Terminated, period.

Just for not previewing content she was showing to her students...on that alone.

The vids can be pretty revolting. But should a 14 year old see reality or not? Or is it too harsh at that age?

My opinion- No, not appropriate.

As far as I understood, it didn't even show the actual beheading. That isn't so really disturbing, if you have been confronted with this pictures and videos that are everywhere. Hadn't you seen pictures and filmed documentaries of Auschwitz by 11 or 12? I can just understand being (over) protective of 14 year olds. But in college? If we can't show reality in college, we have a severe problem, I should think.

Yes I had.

Porn is not reality.

Where's the cut-off point?
Do you think 3-4 year olds should be watching "faces of death" for instance?

If so please never teach my daughter. :)

Live sex shows then. Taped of course.

They already have sex education which seems to be satisfactory in explaining to them what happens.

These kids go to school in South Bronx. They've probably seen shootings and stabbings since they were in kindergarten.

It's a harsh world out there and it took John Kerry until two days ago to finally acknowledge that a genocide is occurring in Iraq. Not too many people may know that, given the way we want to protect ourselves from the realities of the world. The moderators of this board have prohibited showing what ISIS is doing in the ME as well.. We want 'Safe Zones' instead.

These children were too young to be shown such brutality but the general public should be aware of what's happening in the Middle East, and elsewhere around the world. It is horrifying and brutal but it's there. The thing is that people don't know what to do about so they'll just turn the page or shift to another channel.

We can look back and wonder at the Holocaust in Germany, how it happened and why it was ignored but now we can better understand why. People just don't want to know about it.

If it was course on terrorism organizations it would be fine. At University not MS. They should look at the Principal of this school, there might be some big problems with how this school is being run.
