Plane crashes in Russia, all 62 people on board killed

A responsible pilot would have gone to an operating alternate airfield where the weather was better. The pilot had to have fuel to divert to an operational airfield. That's basic SOP for civilian air.

We divert aircraft all the time in the free world.

I was stuck for a while at DFW because of a divert...tornado warning storm.

There was a Czech Air flight that diverted at Rostov before the FlyDubai crash.

United 173 could have landed at Portland international airport, but the pilot was worried about the status of the landing gear and continued to have his plane flay around Portland while he tried to solve the problem. The pilot was so fixated on the landing gear problem he was unaware that his plane was flying on fumes.

You mentioned the judgement of that flights pilots. I was just commenting on a different plane crash where the judgement of the pilot should have been questioned by his co-pilots but did not do so because the pilot was older and more senior than them.

Meanwhile, we have a disaster in the making with an airline in America.

Allegiant, huge amount of emergency landings, bad mechanics, poor safety culture and jurrasic airplanes. Don't fly them.

Leaked transcript showed 50 seconds before impact, at 900 feet above the runway, that the Captain stated on the CVR "Go Around", started to ascend, and raised the landing gear.
