Trump Presidency Is a Global Threat, Economist Intelligence Unit Warns

America is still the worlds policeman but now we are the most irrelavant we have been since ww2 around the world, that is a problem, and people around the world cheering that America has been defanged and is constantly blundering at home and abroad does not make me feel better, it makes me feel worse OK?
This need for approval from foreign leaders is something new to America, I believe. Does a superpower, the world's leading democracy, really need to be interested in these people? Did any of them have confidence in Obama?

Foreign leaders have been blaming America for their domestic problems for generations, and it often worked well on the locals. But Americans at one time understood this to be typical grandstanding and could see the posturing for what it was. Now it seems to be taken seriously, and it shouldn't be.

*bold* is legitimate because anyone with half a brain knows that tariffs are moronic and contrary to one of the basic economic principles of which this country stands for and has stood for for more than a century: Capitalism

People who kiss the asses of big business always claim that tariffs are a bad thing. They always claim that the great depression happened as a result making it hard for companies to ship jobs over seas. And they act as though somehow between 1929 until the moment we started shipping jobs to Japan, India, China and other countries that there was this decades long depression.Even though the great depression only lasted 10 years.

Were you cognizant of the world's opinions during the Bush years? To call the Obama years "an extreme low point", tells me that you know little of the world outside our shores - obviously you believe otherwise.

You are just too gullible to what the moron, anti-American globalists say. Japan and Germany didn't like what we were doing at one time either. Take your head out of the sand.

I think anti Trump hysteria is a far greater threat.
Your panties might actually cut off circulation if you get them into such a knot that you need to seek medical attention to have them removed.

It is not approval, it is ****s and grins as they watch a superpower fail, just as we tend to love to watch great people fall. THese idiots who think this is a good thing for America boggle the mind. When did Americans get to be so ignorant?

They put jihadism under the donald.

Jihadism is honestly a fly in everyone's ass. They may get a couple people outside their sand flea pathetic desert but they really aren't going to reak havoc on the global economy any time soon.

This article is a joke, and so is the organization. And I hate the Donald's guts.

I agree but there is something to be said for raising them for countries that already have high ones on US goods as a bargaining chip to normalizing both sides.

The headline is just a bit over the top - the report puts a Trump presidency in the middle of various risks to global stability but still . . . interesting that Trump as president is rated as dangerous as the continuing efforts of the jihadists

To keep it real, the EIU is not at all an impartial voice here: it's the subsidiary of a neoliberal rag that is a diehard proponent of the same trade agreements and relationships that Trump either wants to reexamine or tear down.

Oh my goodness the establishment is pulling out all the stops on this one. Trump presidency a global threat :lamo

Of course, it is legitimate to point out dangers. It is their job, after all. And there can be no reasonable doubt that the man's election could be a serious global danger.

There is quite a bit of worry in this respect among our allies.

The rest of the world likes when we are less of a power. They like when we have leaders that seriously restrict our free markets, our ability to produce and be competitive. This is all good for them.

When middle eastern oil producers hear that Obama or Hillary are going to try and stop fracking, something that has cut into their profits, they love it. When Trump says he wants to make better deals, make us more profitable, of course, that is bad news, to them.

They must really think that we are crazy, the way the libs try and cripple our own businesses. I don't often see other countries making it more difficult for their industries to compete with us. Hurting ourselves is a campaign promise on the left.

It was a joke to the incompetent elite and the idiots who still listen to them, not to the huge chunk of the population who supports him.

Yeah those incompetent elites The Orange Guy sucked up to (in both parties) to get special consideration (crony capitalism) in making and losing millions. He IS part of the elite, he is an ego driven OPPORTUNIST who can't resist the ultimate con- convince large numbers of gullible and quite hate filled white folks... (polls show Trump's support in the single digits with blacks and Hispanics- with a chance of a 14% ceiling for Hispanics if Trump is the PUB nominee)... to believe he gives a rat's rump about the 'little people' he hired and fired with little concern.

How does that line go about useful idiots??? :peace

There is that worry every time Americans have an election. It's the world's biggest show and everyone has an opinion, usually quite uninformed. It may as well be called Celebrity Apprentice, or Presidential Apprentice, with an international audience cheering on their favorite candidates and fretting about 'dire consequences' if their guy doesn't win.

The only time Obama had a few allies was when he bombed Libya, leading from behind. That didn't work out well at all, or inspire confidence among any other potential allies. His "Red Line in the sand' threat also undercut whatever credibility remained. Trump promises to be stronger than Obama and probably will be.

The last President with orange hair became the greatest President in modern history. Maybe lightning will strike twice.

Bottom line is votes by hook or crook.

True. Obama has done a miserable job in the international theater. Quite a disappointment to the Europeans, he has been.

Cats and Dogs living together !!! Oh my, complete shutdown of the world as we know it.

I have heard crap like this each and every election year.

If _________________ gets elected the world will blow up !!!!!

Sometimes the more educated people get, the stupider they become.

President Trump would be more dangerous than warfare in the South China Sea?

And he started off so well, winning a Nobel Prize just for being a Presidential candidate. Of course being the right color also helped.

The judgement of foreigners is reflected in their decision to honor an obscure Community Organizer from Chicago a Nobel Peace Prize. It demeaned the Prize as well as the committee who presented it, and they now enjoy as much credibility as the Academy Awards.

It's a mystery why he would register on anyone's approval rating. He has now petty much retired from politics and will enjoy the remainder of his presidency attending celebrity get-togethers until the country is finally rid of this fellow.

Foreigners may be unaware of the Constitution, The Senate, Congress and the Supreme Court but there is little excuse for Americans not to know about these bodies and the restrictions they place on any President.

Well, we are nearing the end of the Obama presidency, not that much of a global threat, but an extreme low point for the United States. We can only go up from here. Trump can't be half as bad as Obama.

Really. What in world history has led you to the belief that "it can't possibly get worse"?

The last President with orange hair became the greatest President in modern history. Maybe lightning will strike twice.

I think the first is quite debatable, orange hair??? But I wasn't referring to Donald's hair- that is dyed blonde- I was referring to his 'bohner' spray tan,(Trump has white rings around his eyes and an orange face)
