Cincinnati native Otto Warmbier sentenced to 15 years hard labor in N.Korea [W: 106]

Re: Cincinnati native Otto Warmbier sentenced to 15 years hard labor in North Korea

The kid was crying tears of joy. It's the ultimate worker's paradise.

I am sure he will enjoy dining on rats and 20 year old rice while thinking of dear leader.

Clue:
Stay the H*ll out of North Korea.
Sorry but I would not give one thing to get him out of jail, choices have consequences and others should not have to bail you out when you make really stupid choices.

I would certainly like to go to North Korea... just to experience what an oppressive Orwellian nightmare it really is like.

Obama don't care, his token time is nearly up.

I would be very curious and would like to go, but probably shouldn't. My thing is that I would be tempted to take photos of restricted areas and topics, and that would be frowned upon if I got caught.

The government tour commissars would bus you around to different locations and make sure you stand in the right places but the most interesting thing I would want to see would be the everyday life in the country instead of their pathetic statues while 2 million people are in labor camps.

I sat on the border with it for 13 months, you do not have to go there to see what they are about some things are best left to the imagination.

That's like saying I won't see the Niagara Falls because I can look at a picture of it.

So the kid steals a banner, gets 15 years hard labor in North Korea. I tried to find Obama's statement on getting this kid released, but I can't seem to find it. This administration should be pressuring N. Korea heavily for his return.

Why???

Bingo. And it's the normal everyday life that I would want to photograph.

Ummm, a little different, more like it is better to watch the guy go over the Falls than to do it yourself.

Re: Cincinnati native Otto Warmbier sentenced to 15 years hard labor in North Korea

Why would Obama do that? Even if the trial was for show, the kid did try to steal somebody else's property.

a poster, bro.... a poster.

15 years for at best a petty crime?

Re: Cincinnati native Otto Warmbier sentenced to 15 years hard labor in North Korea

seriously? do you have kids? grandkids? have they ever done anything stupid? would you be like "why" if this was one of your kids?

Re: Cincinnati native Otto Warmbier sentenced to 15 years hard labor in North Korea

We're going to have to negotiate for his release. I don't believe that anyone has ever survived 15 years in one of their labor camps.

Maybe a good excuse to nuke those bastards? they've been asking for it for decades

As mean as that sounds, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

We should offer an exchange. For the safe return of the kid we will give North Korea Trump and Hillary IF North Korea promises to keep them for 15 years.

Re: Cincinnati native Otto Warmbier sentenced to 15 years hard labor in North Korea

NK does this from time and time again, to use these citizens as bait to get concessions on other issues. He will be home in 2 years, tops.

They may have learned from Iran.

Whether they are left wing eco hikers, conservative Christian pastors, or nominal moslems of Iranian decent, anybody with a passport issued by Uncle Sam needs to realize that entering Iran for any reason carries the risk of being grabbed and locked up for a few years.

When the Iranians feel that they have either made their point against, or gotten a concession of some sort from "The Great Satan", they let them go. This is usually 18 months - 2 years. But if the Iranians want to make a point and get a concession, my guess is that the period of stay can be three years or more.

On the one hand, his punishment is far, far too harsh for the crime he committed.

On the other hand, I have little sympathy for anyone stupid enough to go to North Korea on vacation.

Why would you say that?

Why does it matter what he was trying to steal?

I doubt they would want Hillary.

Bill was there not long ago and I bet he told them some stories.

Why? Stupid kid gets what he deserves. Hell, I'd send him away for 15 just for stepping foot in NK.

I would not be surprised to learn we are working on a way for him to nuke his own damned self. Perhaps an errant missile test.
