That's not it at all. It's because of endless promises of handouts. (Most) Republicans are the only people looking you right in the eye, with respect, and telling you the truth. Not everyone wants to hear the truth because the truth requires commitment and change both ways. Democrats patronize you and treat you like pets.

Thomas Sowell, Condi Rice, Ben Carson, Denzel Washington, Tim Scott, Clarence Thomas, Shaquille O'Neal, Allen West, Herman Cain.....there are ample examples to hold up as pillars to your community. Instead, they go conveniently ignored.

Exactly. The LIE is that Government will lift you out of the ghetto, and that lie has been sold to the poor by the Democrats fro a generation.

As I have always said, the DNC loves poor people like Lenny loved rabbits.

Did you hear Bernie say at the debate that "white people don't know what it's like to be poor"? LOL, there are a whole lot more poor white people in America than poor black people.

And this is the problem that republicans like yourself have. When you see the average black person, you automatically assume that we are welfare recipients who are looking for a handout the Uncle Sam. Why is it that you think that the only black people that work are republicans. Do you know how insulting that is? I don't need you or any republican telling me how to pull myself up like I'm some kind of low life.

Since 1964, the D road to hell was at least paved with good intentions. The GOP, OTOH, courted the Dixiecrats and has made the Southern Strategy their agenda to this day. Blacks voting for Trump would be like Gays voting for Pat Robertson.

Numerically, yes. Percentage-wise, no. Still, I get tired of this notion that white people are just handed college diplomas and six-figure jobs randomly because they're white.

You're in Texas. Both UT and A&M use the "top 8-10 percent graduation rule for admittance", and yet it's not translating into measurably more black graduates. Plenty of Asian and Hispanic graduates from both, but few black graduates. More truth and less coddling in the early years would change that, but that doesn't garner votes.

The African-American vote is a block of voting that goes to the dems. There are great amounts of pressure from African-American leaders for African-Americans to think, to act in a certain way in the African-American community. Why it's so easy for dems to maintain the vote even though dems do absolutely nothing for this vote.

EDIT: I'm wrong. Dems perpetuate the block of African-American voting for the dems by concurring with the ideology of African-American leaders.

I think it would make sense for more Hispanic graduates to come out of a Texas school. Moving forward, you miss the point I was making. My comment was countering your statement about what Bernie Sanders was saying. True there are more whites in poverty than blacks, but just like welfare, you need to look at it from the percentage of the race population.

There are more whites in poverty than blacks. The commonality between successful people of all colors is they don't buy the lie.

Perhaps you missed the part where black people are not the only ones living in this poverty. Black americans are not the only people on welfare. In fact there are more white people on welfare than black people in terms of total numbers, so it makes more sense that the democrats are catering to white people. And the poor black. And the poor hispanics. ect. I have said this already in this thread, but it isn't about race. It is about poverty. As more and more Americans are in poverty, or near poverty they are going to vote for their best interests. So far the current (and current is a very key word here so please don't tell me about how how in the 1800's Republicans were anti slavery) Republican party has not attempted to address the growing gap in wealth disparity or the growing number of people who are living in poverty or who are struggling to get by because in many cases you cannot be self sufficient despite working full time. And the Republican party is not going to win over that growing segment of the population as long as they are looking down on anyone who isnt well off.

2. There is a HUGE difference between enslaving people to government, and liberating them. Read something about Booker T. Washington.

The number of Hispanic and black students is almost identical their freshman year, but not by the second year.
