First on CNN: Team Romney explores blocking Trump at RNC

RNC convention rules require all floor nominees having captured majority of delegates in a minimum of 8 states. Likelihood that only Trump will capture this requirement is high.

A political party is a private organization, a voluntary association. They can pick any candidate they want by any process they want. You or I may have opinions about how they "should" make their selection, but those opinions aren't binding on any party.
If you are honest about the way the American political process works you cannot deny that there are only two parties who represent us. That's reality. The end result would be that the people would be "allowed" to choose between one parties selected shill and the other parties selected shill.

That doesn't sound much like democracy to me.

I'm all for anything that impedes that scumbag.

Long as it's legal.

I all for anything that puts the establishment out of power even if it isn't legal.

It isn't. It is power and control. Now, for the first time in my lifetime, voters are asking to change it.

Perhaps not, but that's the reality.

It is the peoples right to choose, even if they choose poorly. For the establishment to presume they know whats best goes against the very principle the system was founded on. For the establishment to openly try and suppress a possible non-favorable populist ...... Why bother calling us a democracy if they're not even going to try and keep up appearances.

The Establishment whores obviouisly do not comprehend the consequences of taking this route.

If they think the Party is split now, imagine the aftermath if they pull this ****.

That's a pretty awful and irresponsible way of thinking.

I view it as a war between the federal government and the citizens. Color me awful and irresponsible.

Romney's advisers explore blocking Trump at RNC - CNNPolitics.com

Ding, ding, ding. Pass the popcorn.

Personally I thing the Donald gets enough delegates before the convention and all this will be moot, but it's getting interesting.

Romney is proving himself to be a moron with no idea about what is going on.

He had his chance... with a t-ball candidate as an opponent. Obama was so weak, a failed Socialist candidate that he was just sitting their waiting to be smacked hard out of the park.

Romney never picked up the bat... not only did he balk, he pissed his shorts too.

I think that message has arrived in the past 48-hours... he farked up then, and now with his dimwitted "speech".

It's obvious his speech was to insert himself into the race... as he didn't endorse anyone.

No he can't. submissions to the primaries are all over. you have to garner so many names and signatures along with a whole host of other items.
for primaries that haven't taken yet he could enter if he gets all the needed paperwork. whether or not he makes it on the ballot is different.

most states have already had their ballots published and printed. he could run but would have to be a write in.
if he made the submission deadlines. basically I think it is to late for him.

he failed 2 times he should just stay out of it.

I don't if he got registered for any primaries, but apparently Romney has been planning this for some time now.

Mitt Romney Filed Papers To Run For President Last Month - The New Civil Rights Movement

Activist Scott Wooledge has learned that last month Mitt Romney filed an application with the Federal Election Commission to run for president.

Of course, it doesn't mean he is running, or plans to run – just that he left the door open. Just in case.

The form, dated February 1, is signed by Darrell Crate, the 2008 and 2012 Treasurer and Executive Committee Member of the Romney for President campaign. It also lists Paul Ryan as his running mate.
