He hasn't officially suspended it but he won't be at the debate. And now we have 4.

Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon who briefly led the Republican presidential race before his campaign began an extended public implosion, told his supporters in a statement Wednesday afternoon that he does not see a “path forward” and will not attend Thursday’s debate in Detroit.

Carson, however, did not formally suspend his campaign. Instead, he said in the statement that he has decided to make a speech about his political future on Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland, just outside Washington.

“I do not see a political path forward in light of last evening’s Super Tuesday primary results,” the statement said. “However, this grassroots movement on behalf of ‘We the People’ will continue. Along with millions of patriots who have supported my campaign for President, I remain committed to Saving America for Future Generations.”

The announcement will serve as an acknowledgment that Carson’s candidacy is all but over following a disappointing showing in the 11 states that held contests on Tuesday.

Ja, there are a couple of threads on this now.

But there is (and was before Super Tuesday) too much against Carson to continue. Frankly, he has not been very good at the debates to date so it is no real shock that he is skipping out on the debate in Detroit. But more importantly he has not been able to reverse the trend of staying relevant in this field. There was a time back in November ('ish) where Carson was pulling off 20% to 24% of the polling support, and back in September ('ish) it looked like he would compete. Now, he has all of 8 delegates and no wins post Super Tuesday. Others dropping out has not been enough of a benefit to Carson to continue. Because of the little support he has, those 8 delegates and supporting voters would not be enough value to Cruz or Rubio in their efforts to catch Trump (not that it really works that cleanly anyway.) His campaign has turned into a quagmire, and it makes sense for him to effectively exit.

Curious to see who he'll endorse.

Last night it was discussed from one CNN correspondent that they had sources which said Carson could expect to have a sales pitch from party insiders to run for Rubio's (now vacant) Florida Senate seat. That seemed a bit too quickly thrown together, but it's possible.

That would be interesting, but I have to tell ya, if there's one guy that can make me drowsy watching the floor of the Senate via C-SPAN, it would be Ben Carson.

It is odd that it took until super Tuesday for him to acknowledge that there isn't any path for him to the presidency at this time.

He seems to think God is on his side. I guess not.

About damn time. I was beginning to worry about his mental state.

If I had to guess, I'd say he endorses Cruz (despite the dirty **** Cruz's campaign tried to pull against his). I don't see any way he endorses Trump.

He was the least known candidate going into the race so he gained quite a bit of a following. If I had to guess he is going to support Doogie Howser, M.D. for President.

That is interesting! I adore Carson personally, but on the political stage there is nothing exciting about him.

If God was intervening in US politics at all, I strongly believe we would have an ENTIRELY different pool of candidates. 100% of them.

Maybe we´re being punished

If you want to believe that go for it. If you don't and this is an attempt to bait me into turning this thread into a discussion about religion you can go kick rocks. There is a forum for that and I'll be glad to discuss it there.
