Mitch Mcconnell says republicans will drop Donald Trump like a hot rock if he wins

Re: Mitch Mcconnell says republicans will drop Donald Trump like a hot rock if he win

And where, exactly, is it in the Constitution that a person walking down the freaking street - not even going to vote, but just walking down the street - is required to carry proof of citizenship? And don't try to tell me that it's only during "arrests and traffic stops" because Arizona's law allowed the cops to stop people "if there was a reasonable suspicion to think they weren't citizens"...which is so broadly-worded that it could AND WAS used to stop anyone who didn't "look American".

Take the "reasonable suspicion" part out. I'm not in favor of that aspect at all. No, only during arrests and traffic stops should the immigration status be checked.

Re: Mitch Mcconnell says republicans will drop Donald Trump like a hot rock if he win

Drop him from what? Are they carrying him? Are they going to drop him from a building? From Trump Tower?

Someone needs to get McConnell under control, because he's out of it. As Lindsey Graham said recently, "My party's gone batsh*t crazy."

Grahamnesty calling anyone else "bat**** crazy", it the height of hypocrisy.

Re: Mitch Mcconnell says republicans will drop Donald Trump like a hot rock if he win

You've hit the nail on the head. These politicians think that they are the king makers, not us, the voters. We knew they thought this, we knew they arranged for certain people to get elected (Bush), but we've never seen it THIS obvious before, when things weren't working out their way.

This is scary sh*t, the way the GOP powers that be are acting. They really think they control the country. Makes me wonder if we are able to elect who we want, even if the GOP power brokers disagree. I wonder. How far gone is our country, since the Citizens United Supreme Court decision (which is precisely what has given them this power.....all that money NOT from voters, but from special interests, making the voters almost irrelevant).

Could be this behavior will backfire and cause a wave of voting for Trump. America loves an underdog. But wait, the GOP has a plan for that eventuality: a brokered convention, where THEY crown the nominee of their choosing.

And the DNC, with their "super delegate" system is better?

Re: Mitch Mcconnell says republicans will drop Donald Trump like a hot rock if he win

So you expect Trump to crown himself King and not have to worry about working with Congress? You can be damn sure he won't get any help from Dems so if the GOP deserts him he's a lame duck from the start.
Then the Dems will face the consequences. Furthermore Trump can do exactly what Bush did and send our reserves to supplement the Border security. Congress need not be involved and he'll make himself appear more popular if the Dems don't play ball.

Re: Mitch Mcconnell says republicans will drop Donald Trump like a hot rock if he win

No...not a disaster.

I think almost any Democrat would be a better bet for our nation than any Republican...but Kasich made lots of sense. on many issues.

But Trump would be a disaster for our country...JUST AS HE IS BEING FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

Hillary has effed up every single thing she's touched. The idiot can't even send an e-mail or drive a car.

Hillary and Trump are both oncoming disasters of epic proportions.

Re: Mitch Mcconnell says republicans will drop Donald Trump like a hot rock if he win

He has always struck me as a lying two faced weasel, I have to admit I have never liked or found any redeeming features about the man and fail to see what apparently South Carolina does.

I consider Rubio as part of the establishment. Reagan would be elected and in a heartbeat he was a natural and appealed to most people even if they disagreed. Problem today is that the closest we have to Reagan policy wise is Cruze, but lets be honest here, Cruze is not very likable and strikes people as creepy or weasel like. Rubio is likable and charismatic but lets face facts the man betrayed his voters, people are not easy to forgive that sort of thing.

Most people I have talked to about Trump knows what he is and that's a shark. They know they will get bit eventually. But they also know he will scare the hell out of the establishment and bite the hell out of them. This election year isn't really about getting things done, its about payback, reprisal for what has been done or in the Republicans case, what hasn't been done. People want heads on sticks. At least those I have spoke to do. I personally don't. I'd rather have Ben Carson but is a pipe dream now.

Who's "Cruze"?

Re: Mitch Mcconnell says republicans will drop Donald Trump like a hot rock if he win

That's almost a reason to vote for him, not against him.

McConnell wouldn't know spine if they built him a bionic one.

How does he stand without one of these?

Yes, "papers, please". Funny how this was never needed under ANY of our other presidents - even Reagan, who, instead of going the "papers, please" route, decided on amnesty...and gained the support of the Hispanics for a generation, to boot.

But now that we're in the middle of the longest stretch of private-sector job growth in American history, the slowest growth of government since Eisenhower, and the lowest federal tax burden on individual citizens since Truman, well, NOW we have to go door-to-door demanding, "papers, please".

There was once a time when a government did this...and the ones they sent to do it really were "jackbooted thugs". But I guess since it would be Trump and the Republicans ordering it, well, that means it's all okay, doesn't it?

A guy once said, "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross." The guy who said it is still alive...and I bet he's hating how right he seems to have been when he said it.

Who has promoted going door-to-door demanding, "papers please"? Source? No? Didn't think so.

Ummm...does that mean you do not like her?

Re: Mitch Mcconnell says republicans will drop Donald Trump like a hot rock if he win

Unless Trump is elected dictator I have no idea how he(or any 1 person) will get the very, VERY pro-business GOP to go along with him and throw 11 million illegals out(who businesses love), and also nullify these business friendly trade deals.

Corps love cheap labor, and they like these trade deals. And the Corps spend MILLIONS every year making sure the politicians know what they want and like, so the rest of the business friendly GOP will in no way go along with a President Trump.

The cost of illegal immigration. That's the reason for asking for papers. By estimates over 110 billion per year on the local, state and federal levels.//http://www.fairus.org/publications/the-fiscal-burden-of-illegal-immigration-on-united-states-taxpayers

Where exactly in The Constitution is there a requirement for government to provide free housing, education and shelter? Yet, American government does. Even to undocumenteds.

What a complete idiot! What is it about McConnell that he has Zero self-control and cannot stop himself from opening his mouth and saying stupid things. Its not as if the GOP is imploding on its own.....they don't need McConnell to inflict further damage on the party.:doh

I think some of it comes from age. I understand. I'm not what I once was either.

Yep. I think this is proof that Trump isn't making any backdoor deals to play ball and that he's actually serious about doing something re: illegal immigration and stopping our bad trade deals.

Have you heard the Chinese crying already, and Trump isn't even President yet.

Re: Mitch Mcconnell says republicans will drop Donald Trump like a hot rock if he win

Sounds like fun. I wonder whether an independent Trump will beat the republican nominee in the general election. The democrats will certainly appreciate the gift. They can watch as the opposition insults each other's body parts.

Re: Mitch Mcconnell says republicans will drop Donald Trump like a hot rock if he win

Have you read that thread that states over 45% of Americans don't pay taxes?

If you read the source, 45% of Americans do not pay income taxes; a distinct difference from not paying taxes.

Yes and I'm sure you would be happy if we placed tariffs on all Chinese goods like Trump has threatened. Conservatives are always in favor of trade wars...not.

You missed the point, obviously they think he has a very good chance.

LOL Like they can make sense out of this process when no one else can. Trump might get nominated but being elected is another story.

Re: Mitch Mcconnell says republicans will drop Donald Trump like a hot rock if he win

Democrats seem to be wishing for a Trump nomination, because they consider him to be unviable in the general. though i don't completely disagree as he's unfit for office, it's a risky bet. i'd prefer it if the Republicans nominated someone else.

Between Cruz, Rubio and Trump....they are all "unviable" in the general....barring a major event.

it's still too early to make that call. i won't be voting for any of them, as I don't support uncontested Republican control of the legislative and executive branches. that would put Medicare at real risk, considering that Ryan is speaker of the house, and wants to privatize the program.

Its because of that piece of **** McConell and those like him why people are flocking to Trump in the first place.

Real Clear Politics shows Cruz steadily climbing and Clnton falling in a head to head match up.
RealClearPolitics - Election 2016 - General Election: Cruz vs. Clinton

Rubio is shown to dramatically go up while Clinton has dramatically gone down in a head to head match up.

Trump has never beaten Clinton in a head to head matchup

I still don't understand this. True conservatives are ticked that we had McCain, ticked that we had Romney, ticked that we had Boehner, ticked that we have McConnell, and now they are for Trump? McCain, Romney, Boehner, and McConnell are all far more conservative than Donald Trump will ever be.
