CNN)A Virginia police officer was killed while responding to a domestic-related shooting a day after she was sworn in, authorities said.

Prince William County police officer Ashley Guindon was killed Saturday night in Lake Ridge. She was sworn in Friday.

Two other officers were injured in the shooting, authorities said. One was in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds and another officer was stable, according to Corey Stewart, chairman of the board of county supervisors.

A day before the shooting, the department tweeted a photo of Guindon after her swearing in.

Guindon had been an officer before but took some time off, Stewart said.

Authorities did not release additional details on the domestic call. But when police arrived at the scene, they found a civilian woman killed in that incident, Stewart said.

Just some sad stuff.

agreed, very sad. I just can't imagine. Thoughts for the family.

A little more information:

Guindon was identified in reference material as a graduate of *Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., who held a bachelor’s degree in aeronautics. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and had relatives in law enforcement.

Online information indicated that she graduated from Merrimack high school in New Hampshire in 2005, and had held a license to fly historical aircraft. A source familiar with her Marine Corps service said she held the rank of corporal and was assigned to a unit at Bolling Air Force Base involved with sending home the remains of fallen Marines.

Very sad.

She had so much going for her and so much to offer to society. We lose her and we get this piece of puke to take care of on the public dime. Can't we just flush his sorry ass down the toilet now.

Nope. He is protected, but that sad part is that people think the job isn't dangerous. There is a human cost. Even if it is low, it is there.

I wish more cops would wear their protective vests.
they are supposed to when responding to certain calls.

I know most don't like to because it isn't comfortable but
I wonder how many cops would be saved if they wore their vests.

I know of no one who thinks that. No one.

why did they tweet a photo of her - was she good lookin?

seems kinda strange

First day on patrol, right into the lion's den and a plaque on the Wall of Fame. (Those who have been to the Academy know what I mean).

What a damn shame, she sounded like a very promising officer and an interesting person.

Have seen the perp's pic online. I won't post it here but just let me say I have had bowel movements that looked prettier.

I play golf with a Virginia State Trooper who texted me about it last night. He was broken down about it.

Yeah, it is always hard to lose a comrade. I remember when I was in LE and walked in one night to find everyone glum and quiet, and black bands being passed around to go on every badge... with a sick feeling I asked what had happened, and found out one of our shiftmates, a lady officer I knew well and had served alongside for some time, had been killed facing down an armed looney.

I'd always enjoyed working with her. She was among the few who combine total professionalism and competence with a hidden and hilarious sense of humor. I immediately felt as if there was a hole in me, at the thought that I'd never work with her again or hear one of her little ironic whispered "comments" that made it so hard to keep a straight face.

Bad night.

When a cop justifiably has to use deadly force against a criminal (only if they are of a particular persuasion) there is normally a huge controversy and condemnation from the administration. I have been too busy to keep up with current events this weekend but maybe there has been an outcry here since the offender was an employee of the pentagon?

And you are sadden by the taken of life from this awesome officer with so much to live for? Nevermind, go ahead with the political crap.

Yes, I am saddened anytime an officer looses his/her life in the line of duty. Sorry to bring up the political crap but it's painfully noticeable to me where there priorities are.

She was from a neighboring town. Merrimack and all of New Hampshire are in deep mourning today. She was apparently quite a girl. Tragic.

I know of no one who thinks that. No one.

When you bring up the idea of it being dangerous, those who don't like positive police mentality LOVE to bring up other jobs that have higher death rates...as if it erases the danger of this job.

The scumbag was a member of the pentagon? Really? Where did we get that info?

CNN news. The report said he is an active duty sergeant assigned to the pentagon.

Oh, is that so. Did the administration "condemn" Darren Wilson? Who are some other police officers the administration has "condemned" for using justifiably deadly force? Link to the exact condemning statements from the administration, please.
