Rick Perry Opens door in comeback to convention in comback in GOP Presidential race

Re: Rick Perry Opens door in comeback to convention in comback in GOP Presidential ra

You are missing the context of the point being made of there only being one Candidate to vote for.

After the first ballot, "one candidate" flies out the window. On the first ballot, nobody will get 50% if the delegates for Cruz and Rubio abstain, which they will have a right to do.

Rick Perry opens door to convention in comeback in GOP presidential race | Fox News

Rick Perry, who has twice dropped out of races for the Republican presidential nomination, isn’t ruling out another shot at the White House.

The former Texas governor told CNN that he wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a brokered convention for the Republican nomination this year – and hinted if that happened he might be ready to give it another go.

This had to be the funniest thing I saw today....so I just had to share.

Oops! I thought I might have another chance. Nope.....sorry Rick....too funny.

Brokered convention chance, since, like, he knows the voters wouldn't vote him in. Like the Republicans are dying for a not too intelligent, Romney lookalike, former governor who just had criminal charges against him dropped.

I see you still do not want to address the substance of what I said.
That is fine.

Just thought you would find this 7 min interview with Ben Ginsberg interesting.

You are again missing the context of the point being made of there only being one Candidate to vote for.

And you are again missing the point that delegates not tied to Trump can abstain on the first ballot. They are NOT REQUIRED to vote for Trump. After the first ballot, Trump's delegates are no longer tied to him either.

Finally, Rule 40 (The 8 state rule) can be changed at the convention. Rules have been changed like this before, in 1976, and before that in 1964, which is why a brokered convention is likely, if Trump ends up short of the number of delegates he needs.

Are you lost?
You are again repeating what I already stated in regard to the rules changing (which I also already pointed out to you) which is part of the point you are missing.
If a rule change negatively effects Trump he is likely to see it as not treating him fairly.

What was it that you did not understand when I said the following?

... I am sure the rules are going to be changed because the establishment doesn't want Trump to receive the nomination.
Their only problem will be in not making it look like they are being unfair.

Do you not understated the importance of Trump not thinking something was unfair?
If the Party does something that Trump thinks is treating him unfairly the election is lost to the party.

The second point was in regards to Trump possibly being the only candidate having won the required 8 States.
Your scenario is implausible, and again, being treated fairly plays in to that.

I think anyone who favors the Republican ideology over the Democrats,
needs to come to grips with the idea that a brokered convention,
means a Hillery Presidency.
