Harry Reid endorses Hillary Clinton

Oh come-on, it's not the end of the world!

It'll shake things up a bit, but won't get too far out of hand 'cuz Congress will restrain them, particularly in Bernie's instance.

And it will open the door for more individual and interesting candidates in the future!

I'm not worried about Sanders' platform, because if Congress and/or the Supreme Court holds up, Sanders will tank. It is the consequence of selecting Sanders, which will drive Trump to raise the socialist flag with actual effect for the first time in well over a hundred years that troubles me. Given a choice between 'keep as it is, but only for deserving white people' versus "revolution and dozens of trillions of dollars of spending!" people will probably flock to Trump and armed with a Republican base increasingly willing to do radical things to clamp down on the civil liberties of millions of people looked down upon [1], I'm more than worried about the demagoguery.

I, for one, am shocked. Just shocked, I tell you.

At this point I'm hoping we get Sanders vs. Trump. I'm so sick of this establishment bull****.

You just repeated how Trump supporters feel on the other side.

Not running as an independent and putting his full support behind Hillary are two different things

Alright, fair enough there.

Though I'm not so sure the GOP Congress members will simply fall-in behind Trump, either. They're more like to assist Trump than Bernie, but I wouldn't say it's a given.

You're gonna get establishment whether you like it or not.

Sanders has spent his entire career attacking the democrat party and he's an independent. He will either prove he was all just a scam by endorsing Hillary or he will try to "bern" her down. A win-win really.

You must have missed all the things Sanders has said about GOPs over the decades.
He won't want his legacy to be one of allowing a GOP President to appoint the type of SCOTUS Justices that he has fought against his entire career .

If you are on the fence as to whether to support Clinton or Sanders this should convince you to throw your vote to Sanders. There isn't much more mainstream establishment, same old same old, business as usual, no movement to the center, corporate controlled government, ruling elitism than Harry Reid. Harry Reid endorses Hillary Clinton. Reid represents damn near everything that pulled the nation down to the cess pit we inhabit now. And Reid likes Hillary.

Yo mama.

For the first time in my adult life, I feel sorry for Hillary.

But that will pass quickly.

Nothing brings out the GOPosters like Sen. Reid.
Sanders has indeed said he won't run as an independent.
Yet Trump threatens to if he loses the nomination .

This endorsement changes everything! I'm for sure backing Hillary Rodham Clinton now!

LOL

Oh, I'd say after spending years whining about old white folks, for liberal/progressives, betting their future on a couple of old white folks has got to make eating their words like striking a match to find a gas leak.

It's not about age, it's about issues. Republicans are all 100 years old in their policies.

I find it next to impossible to believe that this will earn Hillary even a single vote she didn't already have.

Indeed and Sanders will do BOTH. He knows what a disaster a GOP President is. It is amusing that so few seem to remember how bad the last one was.

I don't think they will necessarily fall in line. Small government conservatism is deeply ingrained with the conservative movement that it's practically a profession of faith for them, and Trump doesn't have that profession of faith. But I think over time it will be difficult for them to feel like they can get anywhere without their President in charge of such a movement. Power would be divided too many ways. So I do not think that Congress may be Trump's biggest alliance, but they may end up rallying to him at various points.

I think the man will use executive action in ways we haven't seen in quite a long time; and I'm conjuring thoughts of FDR and probably Andrew Jackson. Conservatives may think of him like FDR, while a lot of minorities may think of him like Jackson. Because he likes to push and pull on the anger strings of the public against vulnerable populations and seems to have no allegiance to any interpretation of Constitutionality (liberal, conservative, or otherwise), I think his coalition rests on doing extravagant things that no one else will and damn the torpedos. So if he can't deliver on that with traditional power structures and he needs the votes and poll numbers (which, as we all know, he cares about more than anything), I wouldn't put it past him to do things that ought to make people fearful, strictly through the force of his pen.

But the Democratic Party is wanting its own purity pledges in the midst of, what they see as a "fascist" threat from Trump. I don't know if liberals can have it both ways on this one and still succeed in an election.

The one who holds the record for the highest approval rating of all time or the one who currently has a higher approval rating than Obama?

The only thing that is amusing is that BDS apparently has no cure.

You need a cure for your aliment, being too blind to see what 61% of historians agree on. That GW Bush was our WORST President EVER.

Asked to rank the presidency of George W. Bush in comparison to those of the other 41 American presidents, more than 61 percent of the historians concluded that the current presidency is the worst in the nation’s history. Another 35 percent of the historians surveyed rated the Bush presidency in the 31st to 41st category, while only four of the 109 respondents ranked the current presidency as even among the top two-thirds of American administrations. - See more at: History News Network | HNN Poll: 61% of Historians Rate the Bush Presidency Worst

Truman was as hated as Bush when he left office but as time went on people have seen the merits of his presidency, its not surprising that the same has started to happen to Bush. It can do wonders when 24 hour news channels arent constantly spewing anything from half-truths to flat out lies about someone.

Agreed.

The items I bolded are those that concern me most, and for the way President Obama is portrayed concerning Executive Orders (politically, obviously), I have no doubt Mr. Trump will take EO's to a new level!

The items bolded are the same fears that kept me from voting for Ross Perot, when I wanted him to shake-up things a bit back then, too.

I like Bush far better as a painter than as a President too. The polls must reflect that. Those are some cute little dogs. Jeb should take up painting too. I think they both missed their calling and Daddy made them go into politics.

I wish they were that old--then they'd be supporting Teddy Roosevelt's policies .

Truman's problems were about Korea and Gen. MacArthur.
GOPosters love to adopt Truman and JFK these days.

Today's GOP began soon after, with McCarthy, Nixon the VP, and his henchman Atwater .

Within two weeks, Sanders campaign will for all practical purposes be over. If the Dems are smart, they will accept the writing on the wall and begin to unite to stop the real enemy - Donald Trump.

It'll be a lot longer than that. Sanders' polls across March show he will have a number of states in his corner. Hillary will have the edge, but Sanders will be picking up a very large share of primary victories.

Edit: You may be right after all. Did the polling numbers change over the last 3 weeks? I took a short break from the chaos, but I seemed to recall Sanders had several states in his reach by March and April.

Considering that Truman was the most conservative contemporary president and Nixon was the most liberal one. I don't think you are making an honest argument.

Bush's major problems were the Iraq/Afghanistan war and the financial collapse and I would guess that his improvement in the polls probably stems from Obama's continuation of Bush's foreign policy and his lack of doing anything to prevent another financial collapse.
