During a recent commercial break from a town hall interview in Charleston, South Carolina, Trump is heard touting his performance at the CBS debate the night before, and subsequent polls that found a majority of voters believed that Trump won the debate.

The Morning Joe hosts were already facing some criticism for potentially being too close to Donald Trump when it was reported that they watched the New Hampshire Primary results from Donald Trump's hotel room. This hot mic conversation appears to further support that suspicion.

Just before the show was about to go back on-air, Brzezinski informs Trump that they’ll ask him some questions in the next segment.

“You don’t want me to do the ones with deportation?” Brzezinski asks.

“That’s right, nothing too hard, Mika,” Trump tells her.

“OK,” she replies

Should these two be reprimanded in some form or fashion? Does this conversation lend any credence to the theory that Donald Trump will have (or has) cross party appeal? Is this evidence of media manipulation by Trump and/or audience manipulation by the media?

I'm a loyal Morning Joe viewer. Have been for years. It's been occurring to me lately that they seem to be closer to Trump than I think they should be. Joe has been advocating for Jeb forever, and Mika has a girl crush on Elizabeth Warren. They are totally deferential to Trump, always. I don't understand why.

For anyone who has been watching the Morning Joe Knob-Polishing treatment of Trump, this isn't astonishing.

MSNBC should go ahead and treat these two as though they had endorsed him. You don't have to fire them, you just have to start shaping content and coverage to keep them off the topic.

Hillary's gonna metaphorically draw and quarter this guy during the debates (assuming they're the two nominees).

Joe seems to really (almost personally) dislike Rubio*, and I think he generally dislikes Cruz. He's also been floated as a potential Trump VP pick.



*as a Rubio fan, it's possible I'm over-reading him on that. But I don't think so, as neutral folks seem to be picking up on the same

No, you aren't over reading him. He does not seem to like Rubio at all. He definitely doesn't like Cruz. And he would love to be Trump's VP.

Could be. I think much of it is about the ratings. I can't turn on Morning Joe without seeing at least one of them onstage on the verge of an orgasm when talking about Trump.

Well ...
First, you have to realize that comes from the site run by the guy who's on a hunger strike for Cruz.
Second, assuming it's true it would be better if there was video accompanying the alleged audio because it could have been a joke cuz if Mika asked anything about deportation it sure sounds like something he would just give the answer he's been giving forever.
Third, it doesn't change the fact that Joe & Mika do appear to be in the tank for Trump.

This story is also being reported on CNN Money and many other websites. The only reason that I chose to use The Blaze is because I liked their headline the best.

But you're right, I should be a little more explicit about where to find the audio. In the website that I linked, the relevant portion starts at 21:25

Except you're forgetting that every question not being asked of Hillary by Bernie (tired of hearing aboucher damn emails) Sanders or the modera(what FBI investigation?)tors will be asked by Trump at each debate.
She couldn't even answer Scott Pelly about all her lies so I wouldn't expect anything like you hope.

She faced nearly 11 hours of grilling from the Senate about Benghazi. She will be fine against Trump.

Beck's Blaze piece didn't mention the producer as a 3rd person, did it?

Not exactly news... American media is not what it once was. I remember seeing documentaries and behind the scenes during the 2nd Bush Jr win, where Fox News basically asked what questions he wanted, and the journalist was married to a Bush staffer... I mean come on..

Oh no, not the same thing.

1/4 of the time was her backup group asking questions and 1/4 of the time was her laying down softball bunts with nobody else on the field and 1/4 of the time was questions from her opposition. That leaves 1/4 of the time for avoiding answers ... but, yes, she didn't scream that it didn't make any difference this time so that's something.

No, debates are different and Trump's not very likely to fall for that misogyny stuff and he'll have plenty to mention.

Hey, I don't like Trump at all, but I am assuming that all candidates discuss potential questions with their host.
I am also wondering if the mice left on by design. But yeah, we all know Trump is a clown.

:lol: it was embarrassing. Hopefully they have the shame to be embarrassed now, though it would be better if shame had kept them from this in the first place.

It isn't just one or two talking heads doing this. Trump was on Hannity last night and there was zero follow up when he avoided answering questions. Nobody challenges Trump (except Megyn Kelly and she's been PNG'd by the Trump campaign). The media knows that if he gets elected they'll have at least 4 years of killer ratings so he's the one they're catering to.
