Kurds Warn Turkey of ‘Big War’ With Russia If Troops Enter Syria

This conflict is getting more and more bizarre in terms of alliances.

Russia is backing Assad. Turkey is opposing Russia. The Kurds oppose Turkey. Turkey seems to want to wipe out the Kurds. Turkey is a member of NATO. The US supports the Kurds. The US and Russia are adversaries on a number of different fronts.

Does anyone have the short version of how these lines seem to have gotten so blurred?

This should help.

Fingers crossed Russians will start establishing bases close to the Turkish border to stop an invasion.

Russia's intervention in Syria has generated all sorts of good will in that country. Not just the Syrians who might be able to throw off ISIS, but also the Kurds who may end up with some land they can call their own.

This should help.

There should be a support arrow from the US to Al Qaeda and to the Muslim brotherhood. Btw there are no non Islamist Syrian rebels.

The Kurds are worth protecting. They have been good allies to the USA, but Obama seems to have decided to give them insufficient support. Also, he let the chance of getting rid of Assad. Now that window seems closed. And our man has no valid excuse.

He was attacked for helping get rid of another brutal dictator; besides, we never seem to be able to deal with the aftermath of getting rid of bad guys.

Never might be not quite correct, but we do seem to have lost the golden finger recently.

I'm Irish, but it seems to me that the muslims and those living in that part of the world seem to like dictators, though they would like to forego the brutal part.

I think they should pick their own dictator, and we stay the hell out of it.
