North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has ordered terror attacks on South Koreans that could occur in busy shopping malls, subways and other public places, Seoul claims.
Officials also fear the tyrant could target activists and defectors with poisoning attacks or lure them to China in order to be kidnapped.

Details of the terror warnings emerged in a briefing South Korea's National Intelligence Service gave to members of the country's ruling Saenuri Party.

One senior official said North Korea's spy agency has begun implementing Jong-un's order to 'muster anti-South terror capabilities that can pose a direct threat to our lives and security'.
Presidential aide Kim Sung-woo added that the possibility of North Korean attacks 'is increasing more than ever' and asked for quick passage of an anti-terror bill in parliament.

One of these days SK is going to go north and complete the unfinished business with their northern cousins, too bad China has not do so already.

China could cut off all cooperation with the DPRK and the communist cesspit would crash and burn within hours.

Is China likely to?

Why now and why resort to "terrorism" in some context other than the usual antagonistic politics Kim Jong-un has gone with since being in power?

It does not make much sense. Not sure I can buy into this one.

The insane monster running the country does many things that make zero sense, has not stopped him in the past.

Not as long as he can kill Seoul. That's what most people just don't understand - NK is pretty much untouchable because they can hit Seoul with artillery shells loaded with chem. weapons and inflict massive casualties to that city. It's what has made NK pretty much untouchable and given them massive leverage to do whatever they want. We can wipe out the artillery batteries, but not before they can each fire off at least one round and kill 100's of thousands people.

What makes North Korea difficult to deal with is China's unwavering support of North Korea.

he's smart, he knows he has until next january before his quack regime is wrecked, so he's going to enjoy his remaining time. hope you enjoyed your 8 year vacation little man, america will be back shortly.

Even without China's support, they have the same threat of massive Sk casualties. I've worked with a couple of Koreans and they both said the same thing: SK lives with a gun pointed at the head of Seoul by NK. Just normal artillery shells, instead of chem. weapons, would kill tens of thousands. SK knows this, NK knows this, pretty much everyone "in the know" knows this. So when I hear people going off about attacking NK, I just shake my head. NK has positioned itself in such a way as to be almost untouchable.

Sounds more like the South Koreans are trying to gin up a Terror War a/k/a, the USA model to reinforce a Police State. More Police, more surveillance, more up your nose and promote fear, fear and more fear. Now the South Koreans probably have an already written Patriot Act of their own, all prepared and ready to go. If we had any brains in this Nation, we'd begin negotiations to rescind the Patriot Act.

I thought much the same thing. As long as they are simply a uncomfortable pimple on the ass of Asia - they can be tolerated. But when they turn into a festering boil that threatens to disrupt life for the rest of the body - some are going to advice that someone lance it. If this story is true, it seems the dear one is really rolling the dice without much to gain in the process.

I bet the military/security/surveillance industry loves the threats of fatso as their sales and budgets just increase.

You are missing the point... entirely.

To continue to antagonize South Korea and the US then Kim Jong-un can do any number of things. Another shelling of some community, take down another plane, firing across the DMZ, engage in more war games, fire another missile into the Pacific somewhere... any number of things.

So why resort to "terrorism" in the sense of soft target attacking along the lines of religious fundamentalism? It would take recruitment and all kinds of coordination to pull off attacks along the lines the article is suggesting. Makes little sense to make that sort of commitment.

So, why now? Assuming that South Korea's National Intelligence Service is spot on, entirely accurate, with zero mistakes in their determination.

I don't seem to recall the GOP, when it controlled the White House and Congress, doing squat about North Korea.

Maybe then the leader was less of a psychopath.

Seriously? If anything, Kim Jong Il was probably worse. But we're splitting hairs here, their last three leaders have been nuts.

Nope it is You that is missing the point, you are trying to attach Logic to the actions of an Erratic Madman. He may have some specific reasons but even if we knew what they were I doubt they would make the least bit of sense to a rational person.

Yep, and I don't understand why South Korea wants to live that way next to a ruthless dictator whose country exists basically in the dark. Better to have the war and get it over with. You'd think a well-planned precision onslaught could take out Jong-un and 90 percent of his firepower in a half hour, especially with American help.

China. That's why not.
